I made this same point in a thread yesterday. A poster expressed concern about what would happen (warranties, parts availability, etc.) if GM went under. I said that there are more parts available now for my 1974 Triumph Spitfire (which hasn't been produced since 1980) than there were in 1977 when I bought it.

Ha! You’ve got more direct experience with BL than I have. I just remember the big, famously inefficient, government-run factory producing clearly inferior cars near me when I lived in England in 1980 and 1981.
