I've been traveling in New York and Texas, and it's all Obamarama all the time. People mention Sarah Palin (there was appreciative laughter the other day in Houston when a speaker said wistfully that the Alaska governor may soon discover the power of silence), and now and then President Bush (not oftenpeople move on with a finality that is brutal), but the topic is Barack Obama. There is continuing national curiosity at and discussion of the mystery of the manwhat does he think, what will he do?coupled with a great sense of expectation, and a high sense of anxiety.
The reasons behind the preoccupation are obviousnew president, new directionsbut one new aspect sharpens it. A week and a half after the election, the idea has settled in that America just threw long. People hadn't heard of Mr. Obama two years ago, they know they don't really know him now, and they just gave him the presidency. America threw long, and America is praying for a dazzling reception. People want him to catch the ball.

What a flirt.
The simplest solution is usually the best one.
(Peggy Noonan, "researching" her next column...)
You got a super-sized dose of the Kool-Aid, didn't you, you poor, pathetic thing?
Five bucks says she fritters away the greater portion of each and every afternoon doodling hearts in the margins of her notebooks, with "P.N. + B.O. = 4EVER!!!" scrawled inside 'em. ;)
“Just CHANGE...” OF LIFE! Peggy Noodnik has lost it.
I think that the Journal has been drifting left the last few years, in lockstep with the rest of the MSM. Yes, they're right of the NYT, but there's a lot of room between the NYT and the center.
Hell, so's the Daily Kos! ;)
She has written a couple books about JPII, and a regular on EWTN.
She should know better.
Oh, come ON, people. You’re not this unaffected by subtlety, are you?
The right to vote should include a test for knowing something about the candidate.
Testing should also be required for:
getting mortgages
having children
I live in Texas. Obviously Peggy and I don’t travel in the same circles. It’s hard for most of us to talk about Hussein and when we do, we call him Hussein.
Enjoy your time in Liberal land Peggy, they will kick you to the curb soon enough. But know this, you are NEVER welcome here again!
Persona Non Grata
One of The Chosen One's many concubines-in-waiting, I believe.
It’s much worse to hear her speak. We would all be better off if she would stuff the balled up pages of her useless observations down her own throat, suffocate herself and fantasize about Sarah Palin. I don’t know where this 70% (cheering for Obama) number comes from. That sounds eerily similar to the number of Americans who like to sit on their hands while the rest of us work and pay taxes. My advice to them? Hope in one hand, sh!!t in the other and see which fills up first!
I think she and Kathleen Parker have both been in his harem for a long time now.
I used to like Noonan and look forward to her columns. But she jumped the shark.
What pretentious BS. The first thing CONSERVATIVES should do is kick people like her out of the party. Let them be the Dems they long to be.
Usually this discussion would have taken place before the election. As for what does he think, read his books. And as for what will he do, look at his record. He will sign bills as Present.
