(Santa Barbara/ Montecito) UPDATED: All of Mountain Drive Ordered to Evacuate
Sycamore Canyon Fire Estimated at 20 Acres
Though still no official word yet from fire officials, KEYT is now reporting that all of Mountain Drive should evacuate, as of 6:50 p.m.
Chris Meagher reports that he spoke with Gayle Beebe, the president of Westmont. Some structures have caught fire, including the campus chapel. The students on the Westmont campus who have not evacuated yet are seeking refuge in the campus gym, which is made of concrete and is fireproof. The gym contains supplies for up to 1,200 people. According to Beebe, the fire started not war from the Westmont tea garden.
Because the fire may knock out power to neighborhoods around Santa Barbara, residents may want to sign up for the Indy Alert system, which will send text messages with all fire updated to cell phones. Sign up for Indy Alert here.
More to come as it becomes available. Independent.com will update with further evacuations.
Nail on head Karl! Tony is also probably busy kissing up to BHusseinO's goons.
Did you hear the ironic Rob Lowe reference to the Montecito Fire as "Armageddon?"
Patients being transported from Olive View to Holy Cross.
That’s Santa Clarita/Canyon Country!
The City of LA shut down Holy Cross’s expansion because of a union dispute! Holy Cross is the only responsible operator in the N Valley! Politics everywhere
lol Mayor Teeth with a hot date
KCBS is still live too. The wind looks incredible on the ground in Sylmar

Good night Lainie. 13 just said in one area fire is lying down and people breathing sigh of relief.
Great photo, but I think the Montecito Fire Department should move the arrow to the “Extreme” position.
I woke up at 4:00 AM Eastern time and turned on FOX radio....the last story of their broadcast mentioned that it wasn’t 100 homes lost in Montecito.....they said it was 200! Sad.
For anyone not in the area who has the Dish Network Superstation Package, KTLA is live on channel 232.
Since this thread has extended beyond the initial fire, and this one has the potential to escalate fast, I’ll add it here.
This is sort of the area of Valley Center near Cole Grade Road, which has had fires basically every wildfire season down here in the SD area.
It’s sort of north/east a bit of Escondido.

California Street. Lower riviera. Was evacuated Thursday, but came back last night.
The Valley Center fire was knocked down quite quickly. CalFire sent quite a few resources, and some were sent back before they arrived. The two standby air tankers in Ramona made a pass, and the two copters worked for a while, but no big deal. The fire was in fairly light fuel, surrounded by roads, and the wind wasn’t bad at the time. The little sucker put up a nice header for a few minutes, though. I could see it above Daley Ranch in Escondido.
bfl...thank you!
