(Santa Barbara/ Montecito) UPDATED: All of Mountain Drive Ordered to Evacuate
Sycamore Canyon Fire Estimated at 20 Acres
Though still no official word yet from fire officials, KEYT is now reporting that all of Mountain Drive should evacuate, as of 6:50 p.m.
Chris Meagher reports that he spoke with Gayle Beebe, the president of Westmont. Some structures have caught fire, including the campus chapel. The students on the Westmont campus who have not evacuated yet are seeking refuge in the campus gym, which is made of concrete and is fireproof. The gym contains supplies for up to 1,200 people. According to Beebe, the fire started not war from the Westmont tea garden.
Because the fire may knock out power to neighborhoods around Santa Barbara, residents may want to sign up for the Indy Alert system, which will send text messages with all fire updated to cell phones. Sign up for Indy Alert here.
More to come as it becomes available. Independent.com will update with further evacuations.
Try this one. I haven’t a clue if it is what you need.

You’ve probably already seen these..but hey. And thanks from me too for all the work you and Karl do on these threads!
dang.
Thanks BG. I’ll go through those links searching for one that works. I’ve seen some of those, but not all. How have you been?
I’ve been fine, kiddo! Thanks for asking!
New huge fire storm, Sylmar, Hubbard Street.. vicinity of where 210 & 118 meet
KCBS chopper showing huge wind gusts
Do I understand correctly this is again going on tonight? I had been preoccupied all day and assumed the fire was controlled, but I guess that was a terrible assumption.
That is a striking story. Not sure what to say. Do you have other relatives you can stay with?
I sent you a twitter on that...
I have three scanners going....I need about 12
She is talking about a new brush fire in the City of Los Angeles....It looks worse on TV than it is
I am so very sorry for your loss. I know how awful it would be to have to leave a pet...hope he or she managed somehow.

Yes, tonight.. and no updates on Montecito that I’ve heard. I don’t know how things are up there, but Sylmar’s a mess tonight.
Interesting that the same LAFD twitterer is Melissa Kelley, who’s on every network. And telling people to shelter in place where possible, since they clog up the streets when they self-evac. Ummm...excuse me, whut?

The Safety Police wanted to evacuate Olive View 45 minutes ago....200 patients.....oh no, shelter in place! smokes inside the hospital big time
“shelter in place.” WTF? Any FF worth his boots will tell every person to GTFO at the slightest hint of a safety issue. People aren’t trained to deal with this, and he is. Why is she going around saying this stuff?
I’m in Rancho Bernardo where much of what surrounds me was destroyed last October in the wildfires. One of my dear friends lives on the street Bush visited last year and is the only house standing among about a dozen at the cul-de-sac.
When they were allowed back in to see what was in tact from the smoke and soot and water damage, they found cats that were not their own along with their own cat. The fire crews could tell most of the other homes were losses and their place may be salvageable, so they collected any cats that were roaming or rescued in that area over the course of the few days of the fire and initial mopping up of hot spots, and had gotten in and left a lot of food and water for them, figuring that was the best they could do in the midst of the firefight. My friends left word with all the shelters, and on several community websites afterwards, and signs on the posts that were standing in neighborhoods, and it took awhile, but eventually they all were returned to their families; many families saying that was really the only thing besides the human family members that wound up saved from the fires.
I hope that somehow someone managed to relocate your cat to a safe place, as well.
You’re in my prayers as you begin this process of rebuilding!
the smoke is screwing up the patients....outer bungalows on fire on the Olive View Hospital campus on fire.
