One of the most recognizable grandmas in Austin appears to be running for mayor again.
Carole Keeton Strayhorn , Austin's mayor from 1977 to 1983, filed paperwork Wednesday appointing a campaign treasurer for a mayoral bid in May 2009. The filing with the city clerk's office allows Strayhorn to begin raising and spending money on a mayoral campaign, but it does not officially place her name on the ballot.
It's the latest shuffle in what has been an already crowded field of potential candidates lining up to take Will Wynn's mayoral seat in 2009.
Current Council Members Lee Leffingwell and Brewster McCracken are considering runs for mayor. So is Mike Levy, founder and former publisher of Texas Monthly. Two other potential candidates former Council Members Bill Spelman and Jackie Goodman have already backed away from the race.

Maybe her son can get a PR job now.
Then he can write another tell-all book ragging on Mom.
Uh. Yeah. How bad could Scott McClellan's mom be?
Will she be charging as a RINO again?
I don’t think they declare their party affiliation for Mayor and even if she could she wouldn’t want an R by her name in Austin.
How are they going to fit her entire name on the ballot?
She cannot win.
Maybe she’ll just be listed as Gramma. She might make the runoff, but will probably lose that.
I wish she would just go away.
How are they going to fit her entire name on the ballot?
Grandma will fit I think.......
Carol Keeton McClellan Rylander Strayhorn.....maybe next time she’ll find a Smith or Jones to marry so her name will be easier to remember.
Open race with runoff in June 13th if needed.
Ah Scott McClellan’s mom thinks she still has a future in politics.
Simple..."Her Again"
She and Austin deserve each other.
Austin is controlled by those who live in West Austin, Hyde Park, Travis Heights and Barton Hills.
People in those neighborhoods are liberal and will not support Carole-Keeton- McClellan- Rylander-Strayhorn
The Strayhorn family are worse than cockroaches. Nuke them with RAID
