‘Maybe they wouldnt stay in the liberal parties if the conservative parties didnt put up with the racists in their own party - all in the name of free speech, of course. :(’
Best post of the season.
Too many people here see blacks as only ghetto dwellers, hip hoppers and welfare recipients.
I strongly suspect that a lot of those ‘conservative’ voters out in the suburbs who voted for Obama are really Black voters who don’t live in the inner city. Many, many blacks share the same conservative views as whites but are turned off by too many ‘racists’ (a vast minority) within our mist. Invite some leaning liberal to FR and I guarantee you the posts that will stand out are the ones inferring that all blacks are ghetto dwellers, hip hoppers, etc.; how grand their ‘whiteness’ (not their political philosophy) is.
You’d be surprised to know that a very large amount of blacks live in better housing and make more money than a lot of the posters here.
No one is suggesting that conservatives change. It is just a good game plan to explain to minorities what conservatism is all about.
Liberal-Speak Alert!
(FWIW, I think we would've been much better off if we would have taken head-on un-American liberal premises, rather than co-opting them, along with the useful idiots that spout them)
"No one is suggesting that conservatives change."
I do believe that a number of conservatives need to change. The racist crap that spews out of their mouths is destroying the party.
It's "conservatism" that doesn't have to change.
good points. bttt.
The democrat party is the party of racists. They're the ones that call any black that does not toe the line names.
By the way, the only one spewing any crap out of their mouth is you.
I think you don’t understand the power of words, and use them recklessly, to your own detriment.
I don’t think you are really interested in understanding posts or exchanging dialog.
I think conservatism will continue to be lost in the woods as long as it allows skulduggery to dictate the conversation, rather than relying upon the proud tradition of thoughts and ideas that were its wellspring.
Good luck.
You’re correct ‘conservatism’ is the proper word.
A lot of these ‘so called’ conservatives are here only to spew their venom and bigotry.
Throughout history their ilk have preyed on the innocent and somewhat honest fears of good people. I just wish that more good people would ‘call them out’.
Evil only wins when good people do nothing.
Those who whine about “the changing electorate” can’t do A THING about it. Even if you deported every illegal, it will NOT cause the population to return to the way it was fourty years ago. The white population is growing more secular too, and the only reason the SoCons will be able to win “ballot initiatives” in the future is by counting on the votes of black and hispanic Christians.
HUH? Every racist post on this board has great power to alienate people who might otherwise be drawn to conservatism. Yes, words have IMMENSE power.
Good night.
The Republican Party needs to present to the American people a real choice, a real alternative to the Democrats. It did not do that. The 2008 GOP campaign was presented to the American people as nothing more than Dems on training wheels.
I'm pretty sure there are not going to be a whole lot of fair elections from here on out.
The Democrats were driven insane by being out of power for so long. I imagine their plan is to NEVER give up power again.
There are ways of making sure of that in a post-Republic, post-democratic society...
I am sick to death with this white people party, white man party, right wing radical party, religious radical party, prejudice party, blah-blah-blah stuff. It’s all msm fed and fueled. I am sick of hearing these Republican mouthpieces telling us that the party has got to shift to be more inclusive. Well then, go for it. Palin hit a nerve... that transcended race, party, religion, & gender. Whether you liked her or not, she hit a nerve... in a few weeks. Obama was at it for what, 2 years... backed by mega bucks & MSM adoration. Include who and what you want, GOP, but unless you get back to the platform that was... your going to continue to blur-in.
Mrsmel,
I agree with you completely. That’s why I don’t want conservatives to feel that we haven’t gotten our principles and message across. We can’t do it all. People have to be receptive to the truth. They need to understand and take responsibilty for their place in this country. Actually loving America would be a first step.
Those we try to reach have to take responsibility for educating themselves on the greatness and potential of this country. Or at least listening as we explain it.
This election proved everything you posted. The left’s mislabeling of Republicans/conservatives only succeeds in the pockets where they suppress, erase, or distort the truth. Twenty-four states weren’t fooled by the lies of the left. That’s something to build on, if we stick to our principles. And there are a lot of conservative counties in supposed blue states.
We also have to accept that a percentage of people will refuse to see the big picture - that’s the ‘what’s in for me’ crowd. That’s why this country is being pushed through a sieve of selfishness and self-interest. Pandering and mollycoddling to this group needs to stop.
Some can’t step out of their comfort zone of ‘payback’ or victimology haze of liberalism. The fact that material self-interest overrode any interest in facts is what’s frightening.
These foot soldiers/cannon fodder for the left have been maliciously and deliberately miseducated/indoctrinated, lied to, and isolated from the truth. This is done with absolutely evil intent by democrats, government education, union leadership, and their media handmaidens.
I don’t have a national platform but I know the truth and will stand for what’s right. I talk to young people about individuality and making informed decisions. I try do my part the grassroots way - educate myself and pass it on.
The left likes to shuck and jive to downplay the importance of discipline, self-sacrifice, principles, and all building blocks for success. They mock us for working hard and having principles to those they seek to control. This condescending dismissal should be a part of our outreach to others.
Self-sacrifice and discipline for long-term rewards don’t register with some. They want it NOW and want the government to give it to them. And THAT’S the promise that has kept dems in power.
This the grasshopper and the ant parable times a million.
And we have members of our own party on a path of hoping the crocodile eats them last.
Sorry for the long response and not responding sooner. I’ve started re-reading Atlas Shrugged.
Please post a link to the comments you find racist. I’d like to read them.
Several assumptions that Mr. Schubert makes in his missive are not correct.
1) Earmarks is a 2-party problem. Not fair to only hang it on the Stupid party.
2) 2nd paragraph - Simply not true. You don’t win 47% of the vote w/ only “white conservatives.”
There are several more, and I discount this person’s advice b/c he can’t even get the basics right. ‘Pod.
