Doesn’t world’s richest man, Mexican national Carlos Slim, own the majority interest in CC?

"Doesnt worlds richest man, Mexican national Carlos Slim, own the majority interest in CC?" If so, he may not be the world's richest man for very much longer.

Nah - biggest holder is HBK Investment in Dallas with 9%. It’s mostly held by mutual funds and Institutional investors, tho’ Mark Wattles, CEO of Ultimate Electronics owns 6.5%. Slim doesn’t show up, but there could be an investment vehicle of his in there.

He tried to buy it back in 2003 but was rebuffed.
So, he just ran CompUSA into the ground instead...

No, Slim owned a majority interest in CompUSA that was liquidated.
Tiger Direct purchased about 20 stores and the rest are gone.
I still can't believe that they didn't keep the Honolulu store open. Top grossing store in the chain for a long time.

No, you’re thinking of the already defunct CompUSA.
