I find the "exuberance" over Palin 2012 rather disconcerting. She will get nowhere unless people start working at the grassroots level
now.
There might be something to the complaint that conservatives "just want someone else to do the gruntwork."

You know, you are right and this is a very good idea. I will be retiring soon and this is the perfect way for me to help change the party.
Thanks!!

I do, let the Republican party die, or that is, declare it dead because it is, we need a conservative party. Even if that means there are three partys in American and we never win, at least we can feel good about our votes. We’re never going to win another election, if the republicans win it won’t be a conservative ticket. So, go fall for the ruse yet one more time, not me.

we need to unite, but it aint looking promising at least not on FR. it is starting to look like the beginning of the primaries again :(
if we keep threatening third parties and refusals to vote we will never win. no voting gave us pelosi and now obama. dont think it could get worse? give them 4 more years....

We did not even know Sarah Palin existed til John McCain picked her for his nominee.. how many other younger Republican of Sarah's caliber are out there , that we need to run for President or Vice President? The need to be promoted.

You are 100% right, however, like I have posted here before, unless you are in agreement 100% of the time, lock stock and barrel with the party you will not be accepted.

Trust me attending this meeting will not be glamorous, but it will be enlightening as you see how the process works. You wil have to put up with the local political power plays at your grassroot level..but hey mix it up! We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Unscientifically, I think this is going to take some amount of pondering and wound-licking time. Enthusiam is great, there’s nothing better. But folks are going to have some very serious economic issues to work on over the next few years and as long as BHO is viewed as the messiah, I see little chance for a conservative groundswell. As long as political life in the US is seen (by both parties) as an open door to raping an economic structure “while the getting’s good”, mere cheerleading ain’t gonna cut it. I think most conservatives have a good idea of what needs to be done, but preaching to the choir isn’t going to win converts as long as we’re in “bailout of the day” mode. Just my .02.

BS like that got us Obama for President. Get off your duff and do something constructive. Face it the GOP and the Democratic Party are constantly changing, help to make the changes or stop complaining. I do not care for your apathy.

There might be something to the complaint that conservatives "just want someone else to do the gruntwork." There's a lot to the complaint.
I've been a volunteer on campaigns ever since 1988, and while candidates come and go I tend to see the same old faces campaign after campaign. And there are never enough of us -- for example, when we do literature drops many precincts never get the drops because there simply aren't enough of us to reach them all.
Several years ago I tallied up the self-identified FReepers in my county, and found that if just 10% of them volunteered on local & state campaigns, the number of volunteers would double.
So far I have met only one FReeper (excluding my family) volunteering on any campaigns.

I love to mix it up:) Also, I have learned from being part of a hobby group that the people willing to do the work will have the power.
Gee, and I thought my bleep stirring days were over:)

Who do you know that is in 100% agreement with you all the time? Why should a political party be different. A political party is a collective of individuals. Just another excuse to not be involved , so you can complain later.
