McCain comes to Palin Defense
Newsweek (down in article) ^ | 10.12.08

McCain Comes To Palin's Defense In an appearance on the Tonight Show last night, Sen. John McCain said Gov. Sarah Palin was a boon to his campaign, despite a number of harsh anonymous stories allegedly from his campaign staff. McCain said, "I'm so proud of her and I'm very grateful she agreed to run with me. She inspired people, she still does," adding, "I couldn't be happier with Sarah Palin." The Politico adds, "In keeping with the Veteran's Day creed of remaining a 'good soldier,' McCain refused to place any blame for his loss on Palin and offered several familiar refrains about his running mate and the campaign." The Washington Post reports, "Asked by host Jay Leno about criticism of Palin by unnamed McCain campaign aides, McCain suggested that such carping amounted to sour grapes from people claiming to be campaign insiders. 'I think I have at least a thousand, quote, "top advisers,"' he said." The New York Post reports that McCain "took full responsibility for the campaign's failure, saying, 'The one thing Americans don't want is a sore loser.'"

I’m just tired of McRINO now, he got his chance, shot his wad, and he lost.

I just want him to go away and STFU, I’ve heard enough out of him to last me the rest of my life.

Presuming that we actually have another free election, if Sarah Palin runs in 2012 and gets the nomination, I’ll be on board.

The Politico adds, "In keeping with the Veteran's Day creed of remaining a 'good soldier,' McCain refused to place any blame for his loss on Palin and offered several familiar refrains about his running mate and the campaign."

According to the Politico, McCain only did it out of a sense of loyalty and not because he really believes it. Of course, we are to realize that it is all her fault. This is disgusting. Implying motives is sloppy journalism. I believe that McCain said what he really believes. John McCain, of all people, is not afraid of expressing an unpopular or controversial opinion.

I don't really have an issue with how McCain has handled this issue.

McCain “playing good soldier” by defending her? Sheesh, the political bias has become alarming.

McCain has my utmost respect for his sacrifices during the Vietnam war. Other than that, he just plain SUCKS!

GREAT analogy, you ArrogantBustard!!!

If there was any better proof that we need to unload all the RINOS, stop “REACHING ACROSS THE AISLE” and start on a good, solid conservative message, this election has proven it in spades. Just as others in the past have, but the idiot repubs in Congress deny it.

McCain would’ve been absolutely nowhere without Governor Palin. Funny that the only folks that realize it are the libtards! They GET IT and that’s why she was so soundly vilified. They fear her and also fear the broad support she enjoyed. We desperately need MORE LIKE HER!!!

LOSE the McCains in Congress and start electing and supporting Conservatives like Sarah Palin and we will beat down this socialist agenda of the left!

Any objective assessment of this campaign would indicate that Palin helped McCain. The people who are attacking Palin are the people who never would have voted for McCain under any circumstances.

On Levin’s radio show Monday night, he played a clip from a hack on MSNBC saying that “Mike Eisenstadt has come forward to say he was the McCain insider that made the statements about Palin.”

Levin’s revelation - there is no Mike Eisenstadt.

Does anyone say how the audience received the good words about Palin? Leno’s audiences tend to be more conservative, they even booed Michael Moore.

Asked by host Jay Leno about criticism of Palin by unnamed McCain campaign aides, McCain suggested that such carping amounted to sour grapes from people claiming to be campaign insiders. 'I think I have at least a thousand, quote, "top advisers,"' he said."

That is a solid rejection of those who've been bad-mouthing Sarah Palin. It says that they're insignificant.

He could have spoken more forcefully about Palin's executive experience and ability, but the above is also an important line of attack against the backstabbers.

I saw that it was very nice. Good to see someone in the party stop acting like self serving twits and stand up for her.

"Sorry John. WAY too little...WAY too late...You are a real disappointment..."

All true. But for me it was "just enough" to keep me from sendng money to whoever his primary opponent was in his next run for the Senate (assuming, of course, that he "does" run again instead of retiring "gracefully"). If he had maintained silence, I would have injured my wallet to try to get him kicked out.

Hardly.

I’ve seen him show more passion defending Hillary than was shown to Sarah.

Not that I care if he comes to her “defense”. Sarah is doing just fine with that herself now that’s she’s out of his campaign’s control.
