An American engineer held hostage by Islamic militants in Afghanistan was freed in a daring nighttime raid by a Special Operations team last month, a rare move in a country where hostages often pay ransoms or don't come home at all.
A team of about 30 special operators composed mostly of Navy SEALs flew into the mountains outside Kabul on October 14 to retrieve the 61-year-old American businessman, killing his captors and returning him to safety after nearly two months in captivity, according to an account in the Army Times.

Great news there!
I’m sure it is deemed offensive to muslims, though.

Great story, but the sad part is the Special Forces teams that have been built up over the past 8 years for just these sorts of operations will be partially or completely dismantled by Obama. Then, when we need them they won't be there. A truly sad repeat of history is about to unfold.....

Im sure it is deemed offensive to muslims, though.I can't imagine life as a special forces under Obama. We need these men, but how many will survive and tough it out through Obi's nightmare?

I can't imagine life as a special forces under Obama. We need these men, but how many will survive and tough it out through Obi's nightmare? They hung around through Clinton and Carter. I'm sure we'll lose a lot of excellent operators, but there will be new ones to take their spots. If they leave now, they can go to blackwater, etc., and possibly come back in 4 yrs.

I wasn’t implying any sort of nastiness in that comment. It was a takeoff of a quote by George Orwell. I know several such men and they are to a one the nicest, most even-headed men you could meet, but I also know that when the necessity arrives, they have the ability to focus on the mission and then do whatever is needed to protect us. Please understand that it with absolute and utmost respect that I made those comments.

yea what a great story. Reminds me of the Entebbee raid by the Israelis. I am happy the US had the courage to go through with us.....obama would want to talk with the hostage takers

If they leave now, they can go to blackwater, etc., and possibly come back in 4 yrs. That assumes the Obama administration will not charge Blackwater for war crimes for every little thing, and arrest every single member as being part of a criminal organization.

True, and that is a big assumption. There are other companies that are not controlled by US law, though. My understanding is there is a pretty strong demand for this type of service in African nations.
