I wish I had your optimism, but

"People who are going to stay in the country need to consider moving to more isolated places with harsher weather conditions and concentrate on survival and keeping a low profile..."

sounds like what the American Indians might have said.

Yeah, it does. But we are not a handful against a horde. We are nearly 50%. We are not technologically deficient against a superior enemy. It is easier to impose martial law in urban areas.

I am not necessarily optimistic. I am fairly pragmatic. I do understand logistics and I don’t think this regime is going have the operational capacity to control the entire nation overnight. I think they are going to concentrate on the urban enclaves out to the affluent exurbs.

After 34 years in a rural area, I have noticed that the central government tends to ignore us and leave us for last with any programs. I don’t think they are going to last in perpetuity, either. Nothing is a straight line extrapolation. I want to hold on as long as possible and make it as expensive for them as I can, while surviving as comfortably as possible.

I’m old enough that I really can’t do much against them accept be a PIA. We did a lot of traveling in the 70s/80s/90s. We’ve had good lives. If the young aren’t going to fight for their own right to such things, then we will die and they can live in this hell they think they want. In the meantime, if they want to support us so they can feel all good about it, fine. I am staying away from what I consider to be the fire zones.

YMMV

Hope Sarah keeps the door open and the Northern Lights on for us.
