I haven’t gotten my daughter a SSN - yet. I don’t want to, as it should be HER choice. Apparently my choice is either get her one, or pay an additional $3000/yr in income tax (over 20 years, that’s as much as she’d pay in FICA - which she’ll likely end up paying anyway). Great options: sticking to my principles will cost me $60,000 ... and she’ll probably get a SSN anyway thereafter.
