Yup.
For what it is worth, our youngest is an English/Spanish double major, and is seeing a young man who is also an English major. They are both conservative, independent thinkers to the core.
IMHO, the “education system” has done an excellent job of turning out young people who may be “book smart”, but have no idea how to think rationally.
They accept without question, whatever they are “taught”, and more frightening still, I believe they will also do as they are told...
Both of ours were raised understanding 2 VERY important realities.
1. That the more outrageous something sounds, the more you need to check out the facts yourself, and make up your own mind from them.
2. That if it does not have to do with the course, or the job, that they do not have to answer every question asked of them, or do everything that they were told to do.
And boy, oh boy, do they have stories about number two... Teachers/professors REALLY do not like students who say, “No, thank you.”, or “That is not any of your business.”.
I am sorry to say - we are in a world of trouble, folks.
