"Geez" is a derivative of Jesus' name, which mature Christians try not to take in vain, especially on the public record. True, but I doubt that millions of Minnesotans, Canadians, Alaskans and others who use the expression every day are at all conscious of the etymology of geez. Perhaps the Sarah bashers might be well served by undertaking an extended campaign to the North country to instruct the poor souls up there in order to correct this widespread language crime.
