WASHINGTON (CNN) As President-elect Obama visits the White House, a new national poll suggests that the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is the most unpopular president in the six decades since presidential approval ratings were first measured.
Seventy-six percent of those questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Monday disapprove of how George W. Bush is handling his job as President. That's an all-time high in CNN polling, or in Gallup polling dating back to World War II.
"No other president's disapproval rating has gone higher than 70 percent. Bush has managed to do that three times so far this year," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. "That means that Bush is now more unpopular than Richard Nixon was when he resigned from office during Watergate with a 66 percent disapproval rating."

Oh no, Bush shelled New Orleans, I’m pretty sure I read that somewhere - it’s a true fact.
Bush got disapproval marks the old fashioned way: He earned them!
Bush's legacy (besides giving us Obama here in 08) will be he managed to keep us safe for over 8 years. Several years from now (8+ years) when he is looked back on in history, IMO he will probably have an approval rating around 60% and opinion will be a little more favorable to him.
As for his approval rating right now, its pretty obvious how he got it, just like "meandog" said, he earned it. Allowing the media and the liberals to attack him and his policies non-stop without ever defending himself has contributed to his low rating. He almost deserves such a low ratting, As I said before:
UNTIL OUR SIDE GETS LOUD, VOCAL, AND FIGHT (fight means campaign/debate/persuade like a liberal politician aka being loud and none of this taking the high ground (aka McCain) - we are going to be the minority.
Who are they polling? And how many times?
Bush has effectively destroyed the Republican Party and with the bailout has socialized the economy and with his supplemental spending bills he has crushed us with debt. He deserves the low approval rating along with the idiots in Congress.
If Obama bans guns and enforces some type of Fairness Doctrine we are truly up the creek.
And are you just gonna turn in your neighbors...or are you going to fight?
MOLON LABE
We could go on the offensive once in a while... like commissioning a poll of African American’s to find out what percentage want $50,000 or more for reparations.
I’d say 80% would say thats only a good start!
History will be kinder to President Bush than we are...
Amen!!
While I don’t agree with his lack of controlling our borders and bigger government/government spending, I’d say I support Bush 100%, about 80% of the time.
IMO!!!
After contemplation I decided I like Bush a whole lot more then I am going to like Obama. He was good on defense, judges and taxes.
Thanks to his cowardice in failing to defend himself from the traitorous, abortion party's 24/7 onslaught of lies and smears, we now have ourselves a steaming pantload named Barack Hussein Obama as Commander-in-Chief. What a slap in the face.
Thanks, Dubya.
What about Lincoln?
I guess you're not aware that Pres. Bush DID recognize the problem, and pushed for legislation to rachet back BOTH Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2003 AND 2005.
Nobody (The General Population of Sheep) knows that fact. I know this fact, you know this fact, and most informed people (not that many) know this fact. And this gets exactly to the point, Bush has low approval ratings for the way he has handled himself and his image and his policies. Absolutely horribly.
If Bush had been LOUD, VOCAL AND CONTINUED TO FIGHT, he would have a lot higher public opinion. Whenever he did speak, it was painful to watch. (This could be because of the horrible advice he was given by his advisers). George Bush and a majority of the Republicans do NOT seem to be willing to stand up to the liberal press and establishment, and the same thing occurs each time, more loss of support. When one is bullied and does nothing, the result is more of the same if not worst . The left is great at character and policy assassinations, this makes the policies and personalities of Republicans look undesirable to the sheep, thus causing LOW APPROVAL RATINGS.
The internet is very powerful, but this election should tell you something, some people are still in the stone age. Everyone is still not online, and people still listen like sheep to the MSM. The MSM is indeed one of the most powerful forces in the country, as they in fact won the election for Osama Obama.
This election was just another win for the media. They won in 92 and 96. We held them off in 2000 when they presented us with a strong challenge. We got by in 2004 again, BUT it enraged the media. The media got back to doing what it does best, trash the GOP/conservatives and other non-liberal ideas.
OFF TOPIC ZONE.
Sorry for my long ranting posts these days. I'm bummed out over Obama winning this election by such a large margin. I have to many thoughts racing in my head at any given time involving politics these days.

He was beaten back by the Democrats in the Senate, in collusion with RINOS.
McCain proposed changes in 2005 as well, and he is labeled a RINO by most. It was not the RINO's, it was the MSM. The ultra liberal democrats complained regulations would be racist and prevent blacks from getting houses, and the MSM shoved that message down everyone's throats.
PS. I'm a moderate. I'M NOT THE CAUSE OF ANY OF OUR CURRENT POLITICAL PROBLEMS. Blame the people who deserve the blame. The Ultra-liberal MSM. I've supported Bush non-stop and I have supported McCain nonstop. A lot of my friends (younger generation) are moderates. We do not support ultra liberal agendas. That means we do not support the Democratic Party. We are not peace activists. We do not want more government knows best rules. We do not want the UN. We want smaller government. We want less taxes. We want a super strong military. We do not want affirmative action. We do NOT want universal style health care, We all know that Canada and Europe are jokes. We do not care what the rest of the world thinks, we broke away from the rest of the world to create a better country.
It seems the younger people that have not formed much of an opinion on political issues are the ones who start falling for the MSM ultra-liberal garbage. Who can blame them, for two reasons. Public School criteria is almost entirely liberal, and when the press starts their usual garbage spewing, Republicans sit back and watch the MSM hate fest and do not stand up for themselves.
“Compassionate Conservatism” really worked, didn’t it? He even shoved through the medicare drug plan for seniors, and got NO thanks at all for it from either seniors or the AARP. Sad.
An honest rendering of history will show several flaws in Bushs tenure. But worst isnt a label that should be applied. Carter, LBJ, Nixon, et al.Do not forget Wilson.
Can’t say he didn’t earn a lot of that. If polled i’d say he has been a disappointment and that I disapprove. He tried hard for amnesty, he presided over amazing spending increases (most under a Republican congress), he worked with Uncle Teddy for NCLB, he signed CFR, etc, etc, etc. He did do some good things but ultimately I cannot say he was a good president. He wasn’t. Of course Obama will make him look like a cross between Washington, Lincoln, and RWR.
Bush has effectively destroyed the Republican Party and with the bailout has socialized the economy and with his supplemental spending bills he has crushed us with debt. He deserves the low approval rating along with the idiots in Congress.
I agree with your comments 100%.
If Obama bans guns and enforces some type of Fairness Doctrine we are truly up the creek
I couldn't even imagine. It is already disgusting how biased the media is now. I can not even imagine with the fairness doctrine how horrible it will be attempting to get any sort of non-liberal spinned news
Do not even get me started on the guns.
You probably won’t hear a peep from the majority of the people around here lately.
No president... my @ss!
As if a Great Depression along with a sneak attack on US soil... combined with a World War was just a piece of cake.
.
That was not hugh, oh noes! What Bush had to deal with... that was series!
I’m setting my beeber to stune on this one.
Well his approvel ratings may be down , and yes he could done better , but at this time I rather have 4 more years of Bush then obama remember when the republicans had control of the house and senate Bush rating was up even after 9-11 , the last four years has been bad but hell Bush has went up against a stack house.yes he could done better but we need to give him a break also, wait four years from now he’s going to look like a angel.
