A historic Senate runoff in Georgia is shaping up as a political battle royal that could hand complete control of Congress to President-elect Barack Obama and the Democratic Party.

The Dec. 2 special election comes on the heels of the Nov. 4 election in which incumbent Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss outpolled liberal Democratic challenger Jim Martin.

But Chambliss fell just short of the 50-percent margin that Georgia law requires.

This election will decide how far the Democrats can go over the next two years. Will they have rubber stamps in the House and Senate or will there be some semblence of checks and balances.

If you live in Georgia, get everyone you know out to vote to slow the leftists and hard core liberals from their plans to turn this country into some sort of socialist union.

Saxby is a good guy and we need the seat to block the Socialist agenda. I will vote, but I wish he was more of a fighter for conservative truly American causes.

Where are the statemen like we had at our nations founding????

Unfortunately, McCain is supposed to come stump for him. That seems like a really dumb, business as usual decision. JMHO

If he left McPain at home and had Sarah come, he probably could fill the Atlanta Speedway. My whole car pool agrees and would come to the rally, when they normally wouldn't.

Some small measure of hope. Thing is they will get enough rinos to vote with them or use the nuclear option, which the Repubs didn't have the ba!!$ to use. If all else fails they'll just change the senate rules.

America as we know it is gone 1/20/2009.

Saxby is not a conservative. He o nly wants the conservative vote. Then he joins the gang of ten.

I rather the Dems have the Senate with people we KNOW will lie to us than a RINO who we hope will tell us what we want to hear.

Hell, I won’t even go yo the chicken place anymore. :-)

Then you must be a moron. McConnell cant fillibuster without 41 Reps., and he can twist Saxby's arm. McConnel's the last conservative hope to holding off a rubber stamp Democrap Congress.. (Its amazing how many stupid people lurk here)

It's also amazing how many people can rationalize votes for RINO's with out recognizing what the result has been

HE HAS AN ACU RATING OF 94%

People who keep insisting on 100% are part of the problem. Remember what Reagan said about 80% of a loaf? If you vote against Saxby, you are voting FOR Obama, Pelosi and Reid.

Remember, each seat that we retain in this election is one less we have to win back in 2010.

we need to get the Republicans out. I wish Chambliss would just endorse Buckley

Then a real opponent to socialism and kleptocracy would be in office!

We must get Chambliss across the finish line. Anybody who makes the perfect the enemy of the good is an idiot and is completely ignorant relative to legislative procedure.

For those who have not been paying attention, Chambliss is bringing in any array of GOP leaders: Giuliani, McCain, Palin, Romney etc. Hopefully Jindal too.

We have to get Coleman and Stevens across the finish line, as well. That would give McConnell some breathing space at 43.

That’s a hell of a sales pitch.

I’m not voting against saxby. I’m not voting.

Ive lived through fillibuster proof Democrap Congresses (65-67), (77-79), (93-95), and it isnt pretty. The largest expansion of govt occurs during those times (Dept of Ed, Medicare, Medicaid, Almost national health care, etc)

You go back to living in your coccoon of mindless self righteousness, Numbnutz, and try not to make a mess.

There were 169,000 fewer votes for US Senate than President in Georgia.

Well said. Not to mention those 16% (and higher) interest rates we had 77-79.

They are stupid people with principles!!

So, we’ll all have our priniples while the Dems are screwing us with taxes, taking our 2nd amendment rights and adding the Fairness Doctrine.

What we don’t need is more stupid conservatives.
