Quite true,
Clinton didn't have the line item veto either. I believe the first time he attempted to use it the GOP got it ruled unconstitutional.
I’m missing something here.....Bush had the line item veto? Can you elaborate on that statement?
Gov. Palin is right.
Clintoon presided during the information revolution and gutting the Defence dept (becsue we "won" the cold war.) Trillions of dollars in new businesses started, Microsoft, etc. Hell, The Bent One even benefited from Enron and all those other phony companies. A chimpanzee could balance a budget with that new revenue stream back then.
Iget mad every time I hear those idiots taking credit for stuff they were actually against.
We need to stop making excuses. Other Presidents managed to get by without a line item veto or gutting the military.
Bush did too much horsetrading with the Dems, and came out on the short end of almost every trade.
I wasn’t aware that ANY president has ever had a line item veto. Do you have a link?
No President has a line-item veto as so many here have mentioned. What Bush should have done was told Congress that spending had to be under a certain amount, otherwise the “budget” would be vetoed. Then veto it until they got it right. But he did not have the guts to do it, plain and simple.
