In an op-ed in the Washington Post on Friday, U.S. House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, wrote that Republicans need to "rebuild our party by fighting for the principles of freedom, opportunity, security and individual liberty."
You think?
Boehner wrote that during an Obama presidency, Republicans will "stand firmly against policies that violate our principles." If only more Republicans had stood firm when their own leadership pushed policies that violated their principles, the party might be enjoying its eighth consecutive electoral victory instead of its second consecutive shellacking.
Also on Friday, Boehner's predecessor, former Majority Leader Dick Armey, wrote in the Wall Street Journal, "today there is a categorical difference between what Republicans stand for and the principles of individual freedom." Truer words have never been spoken.
Armey's conclusion: Returning the party to its principles "will require a new generation of leadership, the sooner the better."
Amen to that. The people make the party. For Republicans, it's time for people of principle and character to take this once grand party back.

I believe that the absolute best outcome for conservatives is for a third party to replace the corrupt, inept, generally useless and only occasionally conservative GOP
That's pretty flawed logic.
It would take a generation to build a new party, meanwhile Democrats would hold every single elected office in the land.
And in the end the new party would consist of the same people from the old party, just under a different name.
The only thing to do is put in the hard work of keeping the Republican party honest, conservative, and focused.

Boner did not have the SMARTS to RUN a National AD campaign hanging the Freddie and Fannie and the gas prices around the head of the house named San Fran Millionaire leftist Named San Fran Nan.
Lets not blame Boner for that.
This lies squarely at the feet of Mike Duncan, the most ineffective, invisible RNC Chairman in a generation.
Mike Duncan has even less vision than Boner. We desperately need Newt Gingrich as RNC chairman.
Newt understands how to nationalize a congressional election around a winning theme.

Unfortunately the misguided GOP leadership managed to taint Eric Cantor, too.
As deputy whip, he was forced to go along with Boner.

How is it that Boehner has a year-round tan but comes from Ohio and supposedly works in D.C.? That's not a tan, it is nicotine, he puffs three packs a day.. LOL

"
Boner lost it when..."...he was handing out checks on the house floor. Dumbass. He should be tarred and feathered.
Until guys like him are gone...the Republican party will not move forward.

The American people were right - Boehner was wrong, and more wrong the second time when the bailout offered more pork to buy more votes. That isnt exactly a smaller government message. Nailed it!!

I don’t reference Boehner or anyone else in this point. Just that committee appointments can’t be pinned to something so irrelevant and arbitrary as how a whole state voted when House members are concerned.

His favorite hanging out place is - WITH ALL THE DEMOCRATS.
There’s no way this guy or Dan Lundgren can lead the GOP anywhere but into the toilet!!
We need MIKE PENCE - or somebody of his stature to take the lead.

McCotter or Bachmann.
Personally I wouldn’t mind Bachmann. She has the right instincts, survived as a conservative two tough elections the past four years and she survived her own party including Boehner here trying to cut off her funding in this last race.

Yeah, I really like McCotter and Bachmann too.
I supported her with my cash - so I’d really like to see her as part of the NEW GOP team.

I agree about Newt.
WE need a strong media presence.
But Boner is the fool that left Tom Cole in charge and let him take out Musgrove !
Boner was too busy with his K streets buds to worry about
to be involved in strategy .
I am glad that Dan Lungren threw his hat in for Boners spot. We need to attack these San Fran Leftists NOW !
The American Spectator both 2 and 4 years ago warned about Duncan, BOner , Lee, and Blunt and all the other Bush fools put in power at the GOP .They stated these clowns were
incompetent fools and K st gold diggers.
