PHOENIX (Reuters) - Sales of rifles, pistols and ammo are surging in parts of the United States, as many gun owners fear President-elect Barack Obama's administration may seek to tighten ownership of certain weapons.
"The day after the election, I had many more calls than usual from people looking for semi-automatic rifles," said David Greenberg, the owner of the Second Amendment Family Gun Shop, in Bisbee, Arizona, who sold out of AR-15 rifles in recent days.
"There seems to be a fear they will be banned, and it's fairly likely," he added. "Obama and Biden are driven to eliminate firearms from the face of the country."

Among other complaints, they accused Obama of endorsing a 500-percent increase in the federal excise tax on firearms and ammunition -- a comment he made as an Illinois state Senator in Illinois in 1999, but has not repeated.
The sentiments are so strong Wall Street is taking notice. BB&T Capital Markets analyst Frank Mitsch on Wednesday raised estimates for Olin Corp due in part to expected increased sales from its Winchester firearms ammunition business.

Go ahead and laugh . I’m talking about the legal law abiding realm , not the black market . Most of the imports come from Europe and are very easy to control through EO’s .
Modern inline muzzle loaders are safer and could handle even higher loads because that design weakness inherent in replica's doesn't exist.
Well mine is a custom built copy of an 1790s flintlock Rupp style rifle and I use FFG, not FFFG in it. I save the FFFG for my revolvers.
The reason they ask about whether ammo is for a handgun or rifle is that you can buy rifle ammo at 18, but you have to be 21 to buy handgun ammo.
A long time ago, I was a clerk in the sporting goods department of a large store. We had to log every ammo sale. That was federal law at the time.
>Sorry, Chicago Police, were out of ammo. We sold everything to the gunshops in Texas, Wyoming and Montana. [click].
That would be AWESOME.
I’m not a gun person, but I’m considering. I don’t know a whole lot about this. Are background checks done at gun shows?
If I end up going ahead, I don’t want it to be confiscated in the future.
My local shop was jam packed yesterday. Lots of families and women buying their first guns as well. AR-15 prices are skyrocketing however.
If I end up going ahead, I dont want it to be confiscated in the future.
It depends on the show. Many show organizers require vendors to run background checks, even when they're selling personally-owned guns. Other people (non-vendors) attending the show often bring guns that they hope to sell or trade. The so-called "gun show loophole" is the legal private sale that can take place in a nearby parking lot, outside the system.
Heck, check your local classified ads. Expect private sellers to be asking top dollar (they know what your anonymity is worth).
Justified or not, from what I see there really is a run on guns. Either that, or a grand conspiracy from manufacturers and dealers to pretend they are out of stock on firearms, magazines, and ammo. Personally I think we are in for some new “gun control” laws very soon, so I can understand why it’s happening.
Yeah, I am a criminal with a very high level security clearance.
My wife and I were watching 20/20 on Friday night and they did a segment on gun sales going way up after the election and were talking to gun shop owners and people buying guns and they were all saying that they believed that Obama would ban guns. One of the owners even said that he sees lots of folks come in wearing Obama pins or tee-shirts buying guns.
The first thing my wife said while watching the segment is “Why are they just now saying this? It’s a little late don’t you think?”
Yeah, asking a middle aged guy with grey hair is definitely a way of telling if he is underage or not. They probably know that they would catch even more flak from customers if they start asking for IDs from older people.
I don’t think that you’re a criminal, but I wouldn’t be so sure about the Walmart guy.
Can you get private ownership license on firearms that have already been purchased?
Most cases doubled, sometimes more from what I have seen. Is there really enough .223 ammo to stock all these?
Next time I am asked for proof of age, citizenship or any other form of security ID, I will tell them "I will offer proof of my citizenship when Barack Hussein Obams offers his!"

There is no such thing as a gunshow loophole. The same rules apply inside the doors of a gunshow as apply anywhere else:
1.) A federally licensed dealer must follow all record-keeping and background check rules
2.) Private (non-licensed) individuals are free to carry out transactions with other private (non-licensed) individuals without permission from any government authority.
When the anti-gunners talk about the “gunshow loophole” what they mean is that they want to regulate private sales between two normal citizens (unlicensed). It doesn’t matter one bit whether the transaction takes place at at gun show, in the parking lot at work, at the kitchen table or the deer camp. If they manage to eliminate the so-called gun show loophole, they will be requiring all gun owners to follow the same rules as licensed gun dealers.
I challenge anyone to fine me a law, statute, regulation or ordinance that says federal gun sales laws don’t apply inside a gun show!
