I’m wondering if the 62 million morons realize that when Obama taxes the evil big businesses, they will end up paying them via higher prices/rates.

I'm wondering if they realize that evil big businesses will be forced to choose between paying taxes and salaries.

Taxes will be the law...salaries will be discretionary.

I have a funny feeling that half of the middle class has some “aide” for the marxist dictator as well. I will not participate in the socialist economy. I want my 32 hour work week and my whine and cheese.

It's called free market capitalism and you can't target any component of it without effecting all components.

One of the greatest failings of Marxist political and economic philosophy (and IMHO, there are FAR more than just one) is it's basis in dialectical materialism, a part of which is breaking down everything into it's tiniest parts, and examining them. It leads one (falsely) into believing that things occur in a vacuum, that when you apply a force to one part of a system, it has no effect on other parts of the system. Sort of "not being able to see the forest for the trees."

Does 0bama really think his super-duper tax plan is going to change anything on the social-economic ladder? Oh, it’s going to be hard on all of us, but nothing will really change.

The very rich will still be very rich at the end of 0bama’s 4 years. They’ll move their money offshore and more companies will leave, to be established in more...tax-friendly countries. They’ll survive and probably come out better than before.

The just rich people (as opposed to the very rich) may lose their businesses, but because they’re doers instead of takers, they’ll find another way to make money and fly under 0bama’s radar.

The very poor will still be very poor, because they’ll continue to sit on their butts waiting for the 0bama handout that never comes because the rich will refuse to play. They’ll be lucky if in four years they’re not living like third world citizens.

The middle class will hunker down. They’ll take their money out of the banks and 401s and anywhere else that’s likely to be overly taxed by 0bama. They’ll buy the bare minimum, refuse to pump money into the economy and because they’ve learned how to save and manage their money, they’ll survive. That’s why they’re middle class.

The ones hardest hit will be the low-income. With small businesses closing and big companies leaving, jobs will become scarcer. And with big business being taxed more, low-income people will have a hard time meeting the rise in pricing. They’ll end up busting their butts just to stay even.

Even in Utopia, some people will be better off than others.

I can just hear them now...."hey, but Obama said only the rich....."

We can congratulate them on being a part of the "Rich" now. And tell them to hurry up and pay their fair share!

The real question is who is the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center and what makes them the expert...

I looked at my tax returns for 2001 through 2006. I calculated my % of fed taxes paid (Fed tax paid/AGI). My 2006 AGI was about 1k more than 2001. Here are the %’s

2001 - 16.35%
2006 - 10.34%

That is a 6% point drop with Bush’s tax cuts! What happens if the tax cuts expire, well add another 6% to your fed taxes. For example

AGI 80K $4,800 per year or $400 month

AGI 100 k $6,000 per year or $500 month

That’s not chump change to me

$100 a month isn’t chump change to you ? ha! You’re just a typical rich guy!

I honestly don’t think Obama and his vast cast of economic advisors have a clue what $100/month means to the average working family. Those advisors no doubt make well beyond what their cost of living demands, so another $100 one way or the other means nothing. They have lots of compassion for the poor, however, upon whom they will gladly bestow your $100/mo. But you? You can learn to make do with a “little” less.

If your top tax rate is 35% at present it is "expected" to be at 45% by the end of 2009 according to a meeting of CPAs on Friday. They are encouraging investors to get their portfolios in line (sell anything they need to sell before the end of the year) and hang on for four years of economic failure worse than Carter.

done and done. I've been selling into the rallies for the last 2 years. cap gains offset by "losses" in sales of stocks that I repurchased a couple of months later.

I made money when Carter was in office... does anybody remember 10% 5-year CD's. or buying the wrecks of the pharmaceutical companies that Clinton tanked...like Amgen, Mylan, Johnson and Johnson.... The dems were the ones in college drinking, smoking pot, trying so desperately to get laid and majoring in journalism, poli-sci and getting teaching certificates... some of them did the lawyer thing and they think with their tear ducts and reproductive organs (if they have any).

We'll always be on top of the pile. The libs just want that pile to be dog sh#t. They could care less about creating success, just as long as nobody else gets "more than me".

Cause doncha know that libs are really, really, really smart. Just ask them.

Remember these facts, Reagan was stupid, Nixon was stupid and a crook, Bush I was a pussy and stupid, Bush II is stupid, Newt is/was/always will be evil, Rush is a pill popping stupid idiot, Palin is stupid and should be at home, Lee Atwater was stupid and evil, Karl Rove was evil and stupid, and on and on.... yawn. LIbs are so very predictable. That's why I'm glad the NYT and WaPo are around.( I don't read them, but get the edited versions on Drudge and here) It gives us a heads up on the bullsh#t coming down the line.

I've made it easy for my kids when dealing with teachers and others in position of autority that are libs...... anything Christian, patriotic and having to do with self discipline is stupid. Make sure you let every lib know you feel that way, then live your life the right way.

Liberals are flies, whatever they don't eat, they sh#t on.

Keep your heads up FReepers. We've survived Clinton, Carter and we'll do well with Obamalamadingdong. I recommend just tuning out the agi-propaganda by FOX. The internet gives you current events, this site is a valuable resource and hard work always beats a hand out. So be of good cheer. Smile.... That drives the libs CRAZY is when we're happy. Think how irritating it is to have us just roll up our sleeves and get on with our lives.... They WANT us to rant and rave about stocking up on ammo and provisions. (not that we shouldn't or haven't) but it's not the end of the world. And if it is... well there's not much to do except get ready.

That's why they hate Christians so much.

A true Christian is an optimist and knows that all that we see here is just ...... stuff.

I'm no expert, but at least I know that if you make it too hard for the rich they will either raise prices on you or leave with their jobs trailing behind them. Obama is either the biggest idiot in the world to think his economics are going to spur prosperity in America or he really wants to turn America into a 3rd-world country so he can move in with his armed henchmen to control all the suckers who are left in the aftermath.

The new spending will be offset by taxes on business, which will pass the cost on to consumers, resulting in inflation and higher prices for all the stupid people who voted for freebies for themselves...and me as well.

;>(

But Obama will blame greedy businessmen, and say that he needs to tax them even more since all they do is raise prices and enrich themselves.

I am so NOT looking forward to the next 4-8 years.

I forgot to throw in high unemployment, that Obama’s neo-WPA will not be able to dent.

Wait until GM goes bankrupt AFTER the taxpayer's are forced to bail them out! All those union workers are going to be po'd (including the retirees) when their pensions, health-care, etc. has disappeared.

And don't forget that the “Death Tax” will come back too.

One thing I expect to see soon from the Obomunists, as they tank the economy and people earn less, and tax revenue somehow, amazingly, is not as high as they projected, will be a “wealth tax”, or “net worth tax” that you pay on your assets. Several oh so progressive European countries have them, see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wealth_tax. Just think how much they can “spread around” with these schemes....

The Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center

Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, several hundred thousand small business owners, at most, would be affected by the higher rates Obama proposes.

******

Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center estimates that McCain’s plan would increase the deficit by $1.3 trillion over 10 years - and cover only 5 million uninsured people. Obama’s plan would cost $1.6 trillion over that same period and cover 34 million people.

******

Obama’s plan, according to Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, would generate $2.7-trillion less over 10 years than the government would collect if it allowed Bush’s cuts to expire on schedule.

Re tax increase: “It’s not accurate,” said Leonard Burman, co-director of the center. “He’s (Obama) actually proposing a tax cut.”

******

Washington Times, Alan Reynold

Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center “lobbied zealously” for Rep. Charles B. Rangel’s tax bill

"Obama plans to raise taxes on the wealthy by asking the Democratic-controlled Congress to allow President Bush's tax cuts to expire at the end of 2010."

That will raise the federal income tax rates for low income, middle income, and high income! THANK YOU REPUBLICAN PARTY FOR ALLOWING THE MEDIA AND THE DEMOCRATS TO CARRY THIS LIE FOR 5 YEARS THAT ONLY THE RICH GOT TAX CUTS!

The Republican PR machine is about as effective as the gas blowing from the back end of a jackass!
