The problem is that good men tend to be unorganized and unready to confront evil until too late to nip it in the bud but instead it has become necessary to fight all-out to stop it. A tiny minority of Bolsheviks seized Russia because they were organized, had a plan and were ready to act at the first sign of opportunity and they acted ruthlessly to eliminate opposition organizations. The first things the Nazis did once they had their pretext was to abolish the political opposition’s parties and start arresting their leaders thus disorganizing them and rendering effective planning near impossible. Remember that video of Saddam sitting in the Iraqi parliament and laughing and joking as opposition leaders were arrested one-by-one and hauled away?

If good men want to get anything done they had better rally to existing organizations or get one started right away. And they had better agree on leadership and a plan and not waste a lot of time about it.

One scholar pointed out that after Kristallnacht the situation for the Jews became less dangerous on the surface but the conditions for the Jews became more menacing. That is, after Kristallnacht the harassments, humiliations, and beatings that were a daily occurrence on German streets all but disappeared. Instead, the persecutions went behind the walls of prisons and police stations - and as a consequence became much more severe.
I've always wondered about this assertion. Is it accurate?

Ironically, it was Hitler’s loathsome civilian national security corps, the SA, or brownshirts, who provided the “boots on the ground” to make the Kristallnacht happen. Without them, the German public probably wouldn’t have committed such an act on such a grand scale.

But Hitler loved corps. Along with the SA, and the Stormtroopers, he had the Labor Service Corps, Hitler Youth Corps, German Veterans Corps, Hitler Leadership Corps, Speakers Corps, Women’s Corps, German Student’s Corps, Teacher’s Corps, Labor Corps, and Lawyer’s Corps.

Obama plans to expand AmeriCorps, USA Freedom Corps, VISTA, YouthBuild Program, and the Senior Corps. And form new Classroom Corps, Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, Veterans Corps, Homeland Security Corps, Global Energy Corps, and a Green Jobs Corps.
