HYDERABAD, India, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- About 6,000 Muslim clerics from around India approved a fatwa against terrorism Saturday at a conference in Hyderabad.
Maulana Qari Mohammad Usman Mansoorpuri, president of the Jamaiat-Ulama-i-Hind, called terrorism the most serious problem facing Islam, The Hindu reported. He blamed Islamic radicals for their actions and the news media for failing to distinguish between the radicals and the majority of Muslims.
"We have no love for offenders whichever religion they might belong to," he said. "Our concern is that innocents should not be targeted and the career of educated youth not ruined. The government should ensure transparency in investigation."
India has the world's second-largest Muslim population after Indonesia, although Hindus outnumber Muslims. The meeting was also expected to address issues like national integration.
"Islam rejects all kinds of unjust violence, breach of peace, bloodshed, murder and plunder and does not allow it in any form. Cooperation should be done for the cause of good but not for committing sin or oppression," the fatwa written at the Darul Uloom Deoband, India's foremost Islamic seminary.

What took them so long?
Please. They’ve already written a letter to the Pope urging him to ‘stop Christians from committing acts of violence’. It’s only ‘violence’ when Christians defend themselves. Honor killings, stonings, chopping off hands, etc., abuse of women in the name of Islam is just fine since the Koran says so. Meanwhile, Islamofascists are busy hunting Christians in the Middle East, looting and burning churches, and they don’t have the milk of human kindness in their black hearts.
Not to mention the horrors Muslims have committed in Europe, and the small matter of 9/11. But that was yesterday, before Hussein’s election to the office of POTUS.
It’s nothing but a trick - why now issue a Fatwa? They waited until a series of bombs exploded - then they reacted. They should have done this back in the 60’s and 70’s.
It’s the cleric section that issues Fatwas against the US and other countries that are peaceful - it’s too late and they are only trying to protect their own arses!

Even if only 100 rather than 6,000, it's a da*n shame it didn't come from the US.

Exactly. Are American infidels “innocents”? Is violence against them “unjust”?
That’s right. It’s good news.
Getting 6,000 people to agree on one message's language is a long and difficult task and it's a good thing.
How forceful and outspoken they'll continue to be will be worth watching.
To bad they consider all infidels to be terrorists.
Obama, the ONE, will now be seen as the embodiment of the Islamic GOOD COP, along with CAIR ,who I am sure is
overjoyed to see THE ONE in the White House. Watch the dynamics of this start to take shape, as this to me is as frightening as anything else about Obama. Expect to see the slow inexorable spread, on our home turf, of “good” Muslims (those who know better than to set off dirty bombs), who only want to get into Congress like Keith Ellison. It’s coming to your town sooner than you can imagine. There are a lot of elements at play here, it’s a complex dynamic, but if this all was allowed to happen during the Bush Administration,(lawsuits, flying Imams, CAIR, madeup stories about hate crimes and intolerance against Muslims,taxidrivers wanting footwashing stations at the airports, refusing to take fares because they have dutyfree bottles of liquor,etc etc, ) think of what will happen under the Obama Administration. The PAYOFF for our tolerance will be to have Muslims all over the place, clamoring to be heard, and expecting “influence”. OTHERWISE, the (mostly) unspoken threat will be “the alternative”, the “BAD COP”, Al Qaeda , or some militant Jihadist force ready to strike at a moment’s notice.
