Let me edit this correctly as Ms MacFeatherhead either has 5th grade writing skills or intended to make gun owners look like idiots. (The first paragraph is fine. It only goes down hill when she starts quoting gun owners.)

Duncan tells NBC25 that this scares hunters. "That's what deer hunters use. That's what duck hunters use and so it kind of scares a lot of people right now." NBC25 caught up with Doug Krentz, veteran who stands firm on his right to bear arms, says, "I'm not going to give up my guns for anybody. I took an oath in 1965 to defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic."

Stock up, folks; it's going to be a long four years full of gun-grabbing legislation.

Let's see... who is this woman?

From her bio: Prior to TV6, Elizabeth worked as a reporter/producer for News Central 34, a student produced newscast at Central Michigan University. She also took on internships at WIFR in Rockford, Illinois and WJRT in Flint.

Another article: Flint cheers for Sen. Barack Obama

Sen. Barack Obama fans celebrated at the Local UAW Hall 599 in Flint when Obama was announced as the 44th President of the United States. Hundreds gathered at the UAW hall on Leith street for a Democratic watch party. People cheered as they watched the election result come across the big screen.

With all that education one would think that the woman could edit a simple paragraph. Perhaps she just really sucks.

I can't imagine a national ban on concealed carry.

And can someone please explain to me what exactly is an "assault weapon"?? Heck, I can turn a butter knife into an "assault weapon".

I consider myself an assault weapon.

I looked up "assault weapon" and my jaw is on the floor.

Basically, it's a gun that *looks* scary.

*That* is what all the hype is about?? They're alright with a .30-30, but are fired up about .223 semi-automatic that looks like it could be an automatic weapon?

What in the *hell*?

I'd never bothered to look it up before and just assumed they were talking about something like an M-16.

What rational do they have to targeting *this* particular issue? Is it the amount of ammo the gun holds?

A fist is an assault weapon. I guess we will have to turn our hands in to the authorities.

Under the obama administration harsh words will be considered an assault weapon.

They have no rationale, other than to use it as a stepping stone to total gun confiscation and banning.

First they go after the non-sporting-looking weapons, like the semi-auto ARs and AKs by calling them “assault rifles”. Then they go after the “high powered sniper rifles” aka your big game or long range hunting rifle. Then they froth some more and take the remaining hunting rifles, also as “sniper weapons”.

Pretty soon, no more guns.

"Under the obama administration harsh words will be considered an assault weapon."

Then I am already guilty.

Buying guns is certainly a good idea, but even more important I think is to be a member of the NRA.

If you aren't a member, the telephone number to call to join is 1-877-NRA-2000.

If the NRA doesn't suit you, and many people have legitimate complaints about its compromising ways, then there are several other alternatives:

And there are others: the Second Amendment Sisters, and the National Association for Gun Rights (I don't know much about them, but their website looks accurate to me with regard to the Heller decision).

It's critical that we band together now.

Obama and Biden base their firearms "expertise" on urban gangs and drug lords who shoot each other nightly on street corners.

They are not familiar with the rural world or with the concept of responsible gun owners. They know murders and drive-bys.

So it will not be surprising when the Obama administration views us and our rights in those terms. BLOAT if you can.

“They’re alright with a .30-30...”

They won’t be forever, but they have to do it piecemeal.

“First they came for the assault rifles, but because I was a hunter and not a rightwing militia nut...”

I just bought this yesterday on Amazon for my son, its made of the same materials as an assault rifle, its 36" long and weighs in at 12 pounds and is NOT a cheap two piece Chinese toy, its made in the USA, its an accurate replica that actually costs as much as a real gun And its scary! I'm tempted to open it up and put the barrel and action of an SKS I have in it, oh and maybe some real chainsaw teeth.

Two things, having in particular to do with rifles and handguns. First of all, the left is afraid of citizens owning guns - especially rifles - that would be the most useful during a revolution. If the radical left takes over the government, they don't want citizens, armed with effective rifles, fighting the secret police or whatever. They want isolated, unarmed subjects who can be easily rounded up to the reeducation camps. The Founding Fathers did not know about reeducation camps, but they did understand tyrants. That is why they envisioned a citizenry owning the same type of military small arms that the army has.

Secondly, the left supports violent criminals because violent crime destabilizes society and a destabilized society is easier for Marxists to try and take over. So the left does not want you to own a handgun to protect yourself even in your own home. Also, the liberals think that the safety of a criminal is more important than your property rights, so they think it is wrong for you to use force against someone stealing your property.

A lot of the gun control proposals sound very technical - all about whether a rifle has a bayonet lug or not, whether a handgun can hold more than 10 rounds, etc. Don't get distracted by those little details. The big picture is, the left wants citizens to be disarmed and helpless against tyrants and common criminals.

My disappointment in the result of the election is great. That disappointment is aimed at the American people. Those who were able to set aside and dismiss President-elect Barack Obama’s associations with shadowy people and organizations. Those who chose to elect as president a man with such a short resume. Those who voted for him out of knee-jerk reaction to President George W. Bush and the Republicans.

How many know that the Congress has been controlled for the last two years by the Democrats? How many know that the sub-prime mortgage crisis and Wall Street melt down has its roots in Democratic programs signed by President Bill Clinton? More than 63 million voters had the wool pulled over their eyes. The Brooklyn Bridge has finally sold. Change was wanted so badly that a man has been elected that we know nothing about, to be president! Our enemies are dancing in the streets.

At least we here Free Republic know a snake oil salesman when we see one. Remember the story of the Pied Piper? Obama is playing the flute.

I thought Joe the Plumber would make a difference. It turned out that the election was swayed by Joe the Gullible.

America, what have we done?

An ‘assault weapon’ is whatever is legally defined as illegal. That’s how it has worked.

So yes, anything can be called an ‘illegal assault weapon’. Rocks, 11 round mags, anything defined in the bill as an ‘assault weapon’ is illegal contraband.

It’s really that bad. And yes, I can imagine a national ban chicago-style on concealed carry. The democrats will not give a flying rats a$$ about rights.
