Thank you, Mr. Robinson.
Pinging Don W to the article.
I just lost two lifetime friends (married couple) over this election. They are staunch Democrat public school teachers who are Christians, and hate all things Republican, which required that politics were never spoken of when we were together (for the last 30 years since I was a young teen). Whenever they would Bush-bash, or praise the CA Teacher’s Association, or demean homeschooling families (of which we are one), or blast the war in Iraq, or talk about how much all their European friends & family hate Americans, I always kept my mouth shut.
Wednesday, the day after the election, I refused to remain silent any longer. I sent out a brief email to about 300 of MY friends & family, being honest about my shock at Obummer winning the election, and my horror at what this means for my life and my children’s lives as well. I included a powerful Scripture verse (Isaiah 30:21), and a call to stand together as Conservatives and as Christians as we will certainly face greater persecution & ridicule for holding to the traditions that this country was birthed upon.
I am still receiving stacks of reply emails, thanking me up and down for what I shared in that email — how so many people were afraid to voice their grief over Obummer getting in the White House (for fear of being labeled a racist). These two dear friends of mine were the ONE AND ONLY response I received back that skewered me and carved me up like a Thanksgiving turkey — for having the audacity to insinuate that Christian conservatives should have never voted for Obummer. They told me they never want to hear from me again. I am devastated by how they responded, but I emailed them back with the following statement:
“Everything about this man should grieve us all — whether we are believers or not. This is a frightening time for Christians and families especially, but not cause for us
to give up hope. God is in control of all elections and leaders, and we can trust Him to guide and provide, rather to rely on a radical government which has no regard for our military, for parents’ rights, or for our constitutional freedoms. THAT is who we now have in leadership in Washington, come January — also with the Congressional races siding with the new President as well. And I will NEVER apologize for speaking the truth about what this country just did, in electing a half-white President who rejects half of his identity by calling himself a black man only, and who has been called The Messiah, but is really just a shallow fraud.”
Yah think I was too harsh? Just keeping the main thing the main thing...and setting a strong example for my children, which matters more to me than popularity or friendship anyway.
