Palin Aides Sorting Through Luggage to Inventory Clothes (oh, the fake media horror!)
The Anchorage Daily News ^ | Posted on Friday, November 7, 2008 | Sean Cockerham

Palin, who flew into Anchorage late Wednesday night from the campaign trail, was at home in Wasilla on Thursday and not giving interviews, while an aide sorted through luggage to identify campaign clothes purchased by the Republican National Committee.

That clothing, which cost the RNC $150,000 or more, is the source of much of the infighting that has dogged the end of the McCain-Palin campaign.

Anonymous aides have described the purchases as a Palin shopping spree that went even further than previously reported, including staffers using their own credit cards to clothe her.

Palin supporters tell a different story. Stapleton, who said she spoke with Palin about the clothes Thursday, said the campaign brought in a New York stylist to Minneapolis, where Palin was sequestered in a hotel suite practicing her speech for the Republican National Convention.

The stylist's job was to make Palin look vice presidential, Stapleton said, and the campaign went out and bought the clothes, bringing them back for Palin and family members to try on.

Stapleton said Palin never went shopping for high-end clothes herself and objected when she saw the price tag, only to be told it's necessary as a candidate.

"She was thrown into it with, here's your chief of staff, here's your personal assistant, here's your foreign policy adviser. By the way you're part of this campaign and here are the clothes you're going to wear," Stapleton said.

Stapleton said Palin has no notice of any RNC lawyers coming to town. She said Palin asked that everything not belonging to her be taken off her campaign plane in Phoenix before she returned to Alaska on Wednesday.

That didn't happen, Stapeleton said, so Palin and another aide were going through the luggage in Wasilla on Thursday, sorting through what belongs to Palin.

"It would be good for someone to style her up, though (Michelle, not Sarah)."

It's not Michelle's clothes - it's HER! She REALLY needs some posture and walking lessons - her posture is HORRIBLE! She looks so dumpy when she stands cuz she's all bent over. The black and red dress would have looked really classy IF she knew how to wear it.

I'm still fuming. A huge audience heard me ask a conservative talk host who has turned on her (and knows everything) to name one source INSIDE the campaign that said all this about Sarah wrt NAFTA, Africa, the towel, etc. He couldn't, it was anonymous, did I know what the campaign would do to them and etc. about leaks? I will accept the truth if two witnesses inside the campaign will come forward and identify themselve(s). Ain't gonna happen.

That's all I care to report about that, but there was more. Now that it is out there, they will dog her to the bitter end wherever that is no matter what she says in her own defense and no matter who in the media has picked it up, FOX Newsweek, Baltimore Sun, didn't look for any more.

There were a few times where she actually did sneak in phone calls and was reprimanded for picking up the phone and placing a few calls on her own," Stapleton said.

That's where Sarah Barracuda should have laid the law down and let the staff know that she was the VP candidate (and their boss, accountable only to McCain) and that they could go screw themselves.

She should take the clothes as a consolation prize for having to endure that bitter, bitchy staff.

I do not believe several aides used their OWN credit cards to buy her clothes. I wouldn’t have done it. Who would do something like that? That is a B.S. story.

I also don’t understand what is wrong with the RNC buying her some clothes. Who pays for O’s plane, his suits and his wife’s suits? Why isn’t the media asking that or even offering it up since they think so highly of him.
Surely he paid for all of that with his own money?
Or did he?

You asked — “Where the hell is McCain supporting her in this. I can’t stand him almost as much as I can’t stomach the Messiah.”

Well, according to Palin, McCain’s support went as far as telling her to simply “ignore” the news reports. That’s about it. And that was from Palin asking McCain directly about it and what to do.

So, it’s a good thing that McCain lost, if he can’t even solve a problem with a candidates clothes....

The first sentence of that article is not true.

Sarah did a great interview on an AK radio station yesterday. She layed to rest some of the junk out there.

If anyone wants to listen, you’ll need to register in order to download the mp3 files (there are 4 parts plus a cute interview with Piper.)

Perhaps in her next public appearance, she should take a cue from Obama and give a little “face scratch” with her middle finger to those people who are obsessed with the wardrobe.

Regardless of who is doing the piling on, it needs to stop. This woman poured her heart and soul into the campaign. I’ve never seen anything like it, absolutely nonstop, across the country, for months. And did it with a good natured smile, drawing tens of thousands where ever she went.

If it’s RNC insiders sniping, they’re complete fools, destroying the best thing to hit the Republican party in decades.

If it’s McCain staffers sniping, they’re ungrateful, graceless hacks. McCain needs to repudiate them.

If it’s all made up by the news media, they really need to think about what they’re creating. Has any other female candidate been subjected to such lunacy? Has any candidate at all? It certainly is hardening support for Sarah Palin. They’re not going to succeed in “Quayling” her.

I was thinking that the aides would pocket the cash (plus interest) from Saks when it was reported on the RNC expense accounts.

A nice way for Sarah & Todd to give the staffers a little 'bonus' on the side for working so hard for them.

Obama had over 700 million dollars and they worry about 150 thousand dollars.

I need a break from this.

conservatives are beautiful.

I have notices they literally have almost a glow because of their positive outlook on life.

It is an infectious optimism.

liberals have a life is bitter darkness about them.

Sarah is a beautiful woman inside and out. She loves her family and her state and country. I never heard her whine or complain or strike back at the women that said the most vile things about her. God has blessed this woman. I could only ask that the good Lord bless me with the same strength he has given her.
