Rep. Thelma Drake late Thursday night conceded the election for the 2nd Congressional District to political newcomer Glenn Nye after a bitterly fought race.
With a small number of absentee ballots still being counted, Republican Drake released a statement saying some voters waited in line for hours and many troops serving overseas, including Iraq and Afghanistan, sent absentee ballots.
"Those ballots have been counted and the voters have decided," she said, congratulating Democrat Nye....

I am tired of the Grand OLD Party. It is time to have the new Republican Party. I want new leadership is that not afraid to take on Liberal. I want leadership that will put their job on the line to do what is right. Forget about these career politicians.
EXACTLY.
We need to wash the foul stench of Bush and McCain from our bodies and direct our efforts to people like Palin, Jindal, Sanford, Pawlenty, and Cantor.
We also need to watch OUR Congressmen in the next year or so. If anyone of these guys - ESPECIALLY THE SENATORS - refuses to confront the Dems, they need to kicked out in a primary race.
I’m sorry to see Thelma lose. I know her personally, and she is a class act. She has also represented the largest concentration of military bases in the country. To lose this district to someone who will not fight the Dem agenda is truly frightening.
Thelma was number one on moveon’s hit list for that reason.
What are we at, 170 seats or less now?
