Yeah, cause, ya know, running one of the loosest un-principled senators of our time brought us such a great victory.

I'm not talking about McCain. I'm talking about the FReepers who want to label someone like Tom Coburn a RINO. I mean, fer cryin' out loud!

It’s time for all you “blame conservatives first” McCain trolls to leave. Your time is over.

Again, wasn't defending McLame.

The reason McCain got the nomination is that the moderates have no problem compromising, so they can form a majority easier. When Absolutists splinter themselves into tiny super-minorities -- the "Tom Coburn is a RINO" super-minority has spoken recently -- then the idea of winning much of anything becomes a daydream.

I'm not advocating the continued nomination of real RINOs like McCain, but FReepers seem to revel in calling each others' favored candidate a RINO at every opportunity, even when that candidate is demonstrably and clearly on the conservative side.

We need to do a better job of rallying around candidates who are as conservative as possible, and very electable.

I know we've felt only the short end of compromises for a very long time. But abandoning compromise altogether will only guarantee permanent minority status.

First I should get the notion that I am any kind absolutist out of the way. I voted for Romney in the CA primary despite the retard wing of the Republican party advocating for others because Mitt is a “gosh durn Mormon” and somehow a liberal despite making better cases for conservatism than most of the Republican senate. So I think we agree on the misplacement of “rino”.

That said, I will NOT simply forgive anyone who endorsed or voted for one of the worst candidates we’ve ever had during the primary. Not anyone in the party, not anyone on Free Republic. And now Coburn is angling himself to be a reach across the aisle guy. It’s so obvious he wants to be a big name in the “historic” era of Obama, otherwise he wouldn’t have been so quick to write that garbage. He’s going to have to earn back my trust. Until then, he’s on the list.
