I don’t think this child’s condition is anywhere near that of Terry Schiavo nor is there any hope whatsoever of recovery for the child-
for Terry, who was on minimal support compared to this child, there was medical dissent about her prognosis and it was about quality of life, not quantity
Having read between the lines, not only the brain but this child’s entire body is disintegrating as the parents insist the machines keep pumping
It's not, there doesn't appear any medical hope for "recovery", some would have argued that with Schiavo.
The issues are clearer here, since you don't have a disagreement within the family.
The family opposes removal of life support, based on long standing beliefs, and are financially able to provide it. The state say no. Who decides. I say state rather than hospital since in some states this couldn't be done.
“for Terry, who was on minimal support compared to this child, there was medical dissent about her prognosis and it was about quality of life, not quantity”
For Terry it was about inhumanely starving/dehydrating someone to death.I went through the tough decision to remove mechanical devices from a loved one with very little hope of even surviving in a vegetative state earlier this year. It’s not easy, and I pray for this family.
