The schools should not be doing it. Their mission has fled so far from academics, that now they are trying to give credits to children for nonacademic work to help them graduate.
America truly has been dumbed down, to be so accepting of this bold grab for power over a child’s social and civic training.
Don’t parents want to parent their children at all any more? How can anyone think a school can do it all for them? I can’t see why people are so blase about this. It is a very insidious way to turn people toward communism, as posters who fled communist bloc countries will attest.

Can you imagine a parents from the 50's with a child in school in the 50's putting up with this for one second? With a stable family structure at home, mom home and aware of what's going on each day with each kid, the cold war looming and new technologies needing well-schooled kids,, with academics still being the ONLY reason the kids go to school each day and with especially math and science being taught deeply - this sort of 'curriculum' would be a laughingstock.
And today, 'parents' don't bat an eye.
