SOS in Minnesota
American Spectator ^ | November 7, 2008 | Matthew Vadum

As Democrats nationwide try to make the climb to a filibuster-proof 60 seats in the Senate by pursuing recounts, an outspoken ACORN ally presides over the tallying of votes in the still-unresolved Minnesota Senate race.

The fact that Mark Ritchie, a Democrat and former community organizer, largely controls the electoral process in the Land of 10,000 Lakes may be important.

That's because at press time incumbent Republican Norm Coleman led Democrat Al Franken by just 341 votes and the Democrats controlled 57 seats in the Senate, compared to the Republicans' 40. The Senate races in Alaska and Georgia also have yet to be resolved, though in both the Republicans are leading and are expected to win in the end.

The Minnesota seat is the only one that Democrats could try to steal. Every seat closer to 60 gives President-elect Barack Obama and Democratic lawmakers an opportunity to permanently alter America's political, economic, and cultural landscape.

Both Franken and Obama, by the way, were endorsed by ACORN Votes, ACORN's federal political action committee.

Minnesota's secretary of state isn't a Democrat by happenstance.

Ritchie, who defeated two-term incumbent Republican Mary Kiffmeyer in 2006, received an endorsement and financial assistance for his run from a below-the-radar non-federal "527" group called the Secretary of State Project. The entity can accept unlimited financial contributions and doesn't have to disclose them publicly until well after the election.

The founders of the Secretary of State Project, which claims to advance "election protection" but only backs Democrats, religiously believe that right-leaning secretaries of state helped the GOP steal the presidential elections in Florida in 2000 (Katherine Harris) and in Ohio in 2004 (Ken Blackwell).

“What the HELL is wrong with people? Al Franken? Jaysus.”

Voters in MN and PA just flummox my brain. I just don’t get their line of thinking. If Franken wins this, they’ll never see a nickel of my vacation money again.

Unfortunately I have a relative that lives in Minnesota...their brains have frozen due to spending too many winters up there...

Does anybody really think Coleman will end up on top? Sorry, until the GOP gets as mean as their reputation forget about winning any elections.

People in MN thought they had the luxury of voting for an Independent AND a separate Libertarian candidate without any adverse consequence. Franken was these voters’ LAST choice. Now it’s down to a 236 vote margin.

Maybe these idiots will finally learn something.

America has arrived at a place where people like Al Franken and Jerry Springer get close to high office. OMG.

If the RNC does not have the cojones to fight this, why should we continue to be political cannon fodder (grunt work needed for elections)? Time for the so called leaders to do that: LEAD and deliver results.

RNC people- We are watching

Frankenputz is going to come out on top. Notice I didn’t say “win”, because he won’t. He’ll just end up with more “votes”. The ‘Rats are experts at close recounts. They know how to manufacture “votes”. They did it in WA state in ‘04, the one Indiana congressman seat in ‘84. They almost did it in FL in 2000 but for the USSC intervening and keeping them following the rules. Every single time a close recount happens, the ‘Rats gain votes. There is a reason for this, and it isn’t because they got more votes. They just make more up as needed.

It’s another example of how plain old stupid a majority of American voters have become.

Just like Rev Wright said...”Americas chickens are coming home to roost”.

The Minnesota recount is scheduled to take almost a month. I heard the Official or his spokesman say that “Intent of the voter” will be counted. That means they will scrutinize every ballot for marks that are outside the computer bubble - which is the only mark counted by the scanner.

It is a foregone conclusion that this kind of recount will “elect” Al Franken.

A few days ago Coleman led by 700 votes. Now it's 341. The count will go on until Franken "wins".

Yes, but yesterday it was 127, so it’s moved a bit in our favor.

Hey now, not everyone here voted for Franken. If we had all jumped off that bridge, there’d be no need for Acorn et. al. to manufacture the additional votes he needs in order to steal the seat fair and square. So, they'll manufacture votes in areas of downtown Minneapolis that aren't even zoned residential, and they'll magically find uncounted ballot boxes on the Indian Reservations. It golly gee, surprise, surprise, all of the uncounted, miscounted votes will be for Franken. Thankfully, subtlety is not their strong point.

What's funny is that our ballots here require you to color in a circle next to the candidates name. No hanging chads possible. Anyone who's taken a machine scored test in school understands the mechanics involved in casting a vote. And, to top it off, when you insert your ballot into the box, it is electronically scanned. If you did happen to vote for two candidates for the same office, it is immediately kicked back to you as an invalid ballot. There is no chance for subsequent interpretation of “voter intent.” You cast a valid ballot with a vote for that office, or you didn't. Period.

So, this charade of a recount is focused on human error by the precinct judges, you know, when they sent in the tallies from their precinct, they transposed a number of two. Always to be resolved in the DFL’s favor, of course. And, do not be surprised when magic boxes of ballots that were mistakenly not counted start appearing.

In any case, I'm sure I'll be in the minority here, but please, don't spend your vacation dollars in Minnesota. The only way this sort of crap is ever going to change is if we stop enabling the DFL to run roughshod over us, and the only way to stop that is to stop enabling the maroons in St. Paul by denying them their tribute, er, taxes. For crying out loud, we just voted ourselves a constitutionally earmarked sales tax increase to fund the environment and the arts.

I keep telling myself that someone has to stay here to keep fighting the good fight, but Sioux Falls looks better and better with each passing day.

Exactly, I’m not sure what the heck they are thinking or doing. I know this election was preordained but the amount of voter fraud had to be astronomical yet not a word about publicly funded Democrat fraud. And lets not forget Obama’s criminal campaign gave the ACORN thugs $800,000 to shape the issues, well they are shaping them alright.

Coleman needs a team of lawyers questioning every provisional ballot - to make sure the address and person even exist and to make sure that a duplicate registration did not occur. Check those snowbirds too - Many vote in Florida and at home up north!!!!

Caligula made his horse, Inciatus, a Senator. It seems he had plans to make him consul before he died.

Horse, horse's ass, All Franken, I detect a theme. History may not repeat itself, but it sure does rhyme.
