Don’t be so sure...personnel IS policy. Every appointment to every significant position in Washington will go through his door.

Emanuel Was Director Of Freddie Mac During Scandal
Emanuel Was Director Of Freddie Mac During Scandal
ABC News ^ | Nov. 7, 2008 | BRIAN ROSS and RHONDA SCHWARTZ

Posted on Friday, November 07, 2008 8:02:10 AM by FocusNexus

President-elect Barack Obama’s newly appointed chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, served on the board of directors of the federal mortgage firm Freddie Mac at a time when scandal was brewing at the troubled agency and the board failed to spot “red flags,” according to government reports reviewed by ABCNews.com.

According to a complaint later filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Freddie Mac, known formally as the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, misreported profits by billions of dollars in order to deceive investors between the years 2000 and 2002.

Emanuel was not named in the SEC complaint but the entire board was later accused by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) of having “failed in its duty to follow up on matters brought to its attention.”

failed to spot “red flags,”

The red flags were spotted and the decision was made to fight Republican efforts to slow lending or regulate. The foxes own the hen house.

None of this was secret. Obama was/is surrounded by Fannie and Freddie people. It was McCain's job to make it stick, he didn't. I don't recall him ever mentioning Emanuel.

Muawiyah: "Jewish Day School" is a code word for "This puke is from Chicago but he's keeping his kids pure by not sending them to school with the Negroes"….Wonder if the "Obama" girls are going there?

ari-freedom: “expensive private school for our kids but as for the ‘other’ people...let them eat cake!”

In my experience "Jewish Day School", in this case Anshe Emmet, is “codeword” for we’d like our kids to get a religious education.

Implying that Jews who send their children to religiously affiliated schools are racists throws Catholics and homeschoolers in the same racist camp. Should we throw them all out of the GOP, more accurately the “true conservative” movement.

Morons. Rahm was a driving force in the Clinto-Rabin-Arafat charade. He is a liberal who supports land for terrorism.

Rahm had no problems with Clinton's coup against Netanyahu. His daddy may have been Irgun but the congressman sees Israel as a colony the same way Rome saw Judea.

His Irgunist Dad is still alive and apparently just as liberal as his son. His mother seems to be a big lefty.

Where is the Stern Gang when you need them, for these Quislings.

Quite a group, the Stern Gang--everyone from militant nationalist Orthodox Jews to Communists to Arabs(!!!) who were attracted by the anti-British, anti-colonialist position. Rahm (actually his name is "Ram"--no heh or chet) was named after a member, Rachamim.

"Rep. Emanuel is also a good friend of Israel..."

If that's the case, what's he doing hanging out in the "Osama" Obama's inner circle? Maybe he's a "good friend of Israel" in the same sense as the "J Street" crowd claims to be.

Something that’s been going on for 15 years pops up 2 months before the election?

I agree that personnel can be policy - it was for Stalin - but a great deal depends on the degree of independence that a COS has. As far as we know, Obama plans to centralize decision making in the Oval Office to a degree not seen since the days of LBJ. Rahm most likely will be used as whip to drive through policy decisions made by others.
The COS may control access, he may influence policy (indirectly) but he doesn't decide issues or even set the agenda for which issues or options will be considered. The Asst Sec of State for Near Eastern Affairs will have more to say about policy toward Israel than will Rahm. And anyone who has been around DC knows the State Dept is the dept most antagonistic to Israel.

As an aside, Mossad probably knows more about Obama's background than the FBI.

They and British intelligence are reputed to know, among other things, that Obama was born in Kenya, and that he is therefore constitutionally ineligible to serve as POTUS.

The job description of the COS is not set in stone. It is what the president for whom he works wants it to be.

...'reformed syanagogues' which is another word for social justice before Judaism."

Yes, they haven't figured out yet that "social justice," which they couldn't even define if asked, is no justice at all.

Agreed, but generally speaking a COS has his/her hands full managing the staff, ensuring an orderly flow of information to the top, and making certain that decisions are transmitted to appropriate depts, and following up to be certain of implementation. Little time for policy formation is left.
Rahm might be the most powerful COS since what's his name who served Nixon, but I don't remember that fellow influencing policy on any issue except Watergate.
Look, Rahm is a smart and he's a whip cracker, no doubt about that, but anyone who thinks Israel will be any better off because Rahm is COS is deluding himself or herself.
And I believe the man will have a very difficult time dealing with the permanent bureaucracy. Rahm moves and makes decisions very rapidly. Bureaucrats don't make decisions at all, if they can help it. And do nothing, if decisons aren't to their liking. Frustrated by the inactivity at DOS, JFK dreamed of establishing a second DOS; all foreign policy decisions would be made at this shadow DOS; the current DOS would be used to keep people happy carrying papers from office to office. Rahm has a very abrasive personality; dealing with him has been described as developing a tooth ache while your head is throbbing or the other way around. That's all well and good in the political arena but “crats” eat people like that alive, after driving them stark raving mad.
