Newsweek’s Evan Thomas and Jon Meacham shared a bizarre Obama love-fest session with Charlie Rose on the PBS host’s program on Wednesday. Meacham stated that he was "very struck watching the stagecraft" of Obama and pointed out how Obama gave his victory speech by himself: "...[H]ave you ever seen a victory speech where there was no one else on stage? No adoring wife, no cute kid -- he is the message." Thomas went one step further in this vein: "There is a slightly creepy cult of personality about all of this." Rose confronted him on his use of this phrase, and he explained that it made him "a little uneasy that he's so singular. He's clearly managing his own spectacle. He knows how to do it. He's a -- I think, a deeply manipulative guy..." Later, all three marveled about how it was "amazing" that Obama "watches us watching him."
Thomas and Meacham appeared during the second segment of Rose’s program on Wednesday night. The host first asked Thomas about how Obama seemed to be "always in charge of this campaign." After giving an anecdote about a meeting in which Obama discussed his vice presidential pick with his advisers, Thomas commented that Obama is very inclusive, yet very self-contained. It's an unusual leadership style."

I pooh poohed that all along but noticed his incredible ability to smoothe talk his way through everything and turn basic Christian values on their head. Incidentally, abc has a new hit piece up on conservative Christians, goading the readers to start trashing again. Somebody did come back with excellent quotes from scripture. But I digress.
Seeing how the world has gone bonkers over this guy seriously makes me wonder. The stage has certainly been set. I don't presume to know how the prophecies are to unfold, but how can anyone hope to put a check on his power by the mobs and the courts (who are probably afraid of him, too).

I avoid conspiracy theories, but something rang an alarm bell in my head during this campaign. Twice.
First, when he called his granny a typical white person. How can a public person not know this is a racist statement? Unless he believes his above it. And how can a grandson ridicule his granny in public? Unless it serves his narcissistic purpose.
Second. When Obama mocked Joe the Plumber.
All the guy did was ask a question. And Obama blew the answer. Instead of shrugging it off, he had to get even with a freakin plumber, for crying out loud.
I see a lot of vengeance in this guy.
Thanks for the post. I’m keeping it as a handbook to this guy’s administration. I’m very fearful of him and guys like Chris Matthews, who actually seems to have drunk the Kool-aid. All the way down to people in my office who attacked PALIN for lack of experience. As if their brains and common sense were AWOL.

As for these boneheads, thanks, guys, for blessing us, the U.S., with the creepy second coming of Hitler! Too bad you didn't bother to tell anyone about the “creepy” factor BEFORE the election. If journalists can go to Hell for not doing their jobs, ours have justly earned their place!

It won’t matter to most people. I had a heated discussion today with a coworker mostly because he was blaming the “evil” Bush for most of the world’s problems. He’s already covering Hussein’s a$$ by suggesting that Bush had messed things up so bad that it will be a long while before Obama gets things on track again. These people aren’t living in reality.

Obama had 54% of Catholics vote for him even though by supporting him and his strong pro-abortion stance you committed a mortal sin as defined by the Pope and almost all the US bishops.
This act alone has done more to destroy the moral fabric of the flock for the Catholic church in one fell swoop then Satan has been able to do in the past 2000 years...
Cooler heads will not prevail. Everyone including his own will be in fear of crossing him.
I think talk radio is running scared, too. There is a difference in their tone now. They don't affect me that much one way or another because I think for myself, but something ominous is in the air.
I didn't respond on that thread about Hasslebeck but watched the video. Now I don't know what to think. Is she a convert or just not want to appear as a sore loser, was more gracious than I would have been. I think I'd have sat there in stunned silence and let the other ladies talk as they always have plenty to say.
It is truly momentous that someone of another race can be elected to the highest office in the land, but excuse me if I can't be enthusiastic and have an ominous feeling of foreboding about it.
