Palin was the ONLY reason McCain got any conservatives to vote for him.

The Palin appeal is pretty much limited to the rural values voter. Good luck trying to win a general election with that coalition.

Palin has about the same chance of winning a general election as Mike Huckabee.

Are you kidding? I'm a pretty solid 3-legged Republican as are many of my friends and we are nuts about her. Her appeal goes WAY beyond Huckabee voters. I wouldn't consider Huck for 2 seconds but I'd follow Palin to the ends of the earth.

Rural values huh, you mean like believing in whats right and whats wrong, believing in values and in life?

I'm so tired of the moderates and RINOs telling us how to win elections. See where we got with the stupid "Big Tent" approach...Obamanation.

I assume you mean all of us "bitter people" in "flyover country" who "cling to our guns and religion"?

Are you sure you're in the right place?

Nothing wrong with rural values voters. McCain was a drag on the GOP ticket. IMHO, if McCain died one day after nominating Palin, she would have carried Ohio for the GOP.

I assert that point, because I canvassed my Ohio County with our GOP Congressional hopeful, Dick Stobbs. The County GOP ran out of McCain-Palin yard signs; yet no one wanted leftover McCain yard signs on their lawn.

And my former congressional district, back in the Peep's democRat Socialist Republik of Illinois, RINO McCain was wholesale slaughtered. And the conservative GOP hopeful, Steve Miller, gathered more votes in the district than RINO McCain did.

White guilt liberals, voter fraud, and flaming racists gave Ohio to Obama. Funny, of 88 Ohio counties, only the counties sporting major universities and ACORN registered park benches gave Ohio to Obama.

Cheers,
OLA

Spoken like a true RINO. "Jettison the base" has been the GOP mantra since President Bush took office. 2 close elections and turning power over to the most Marxist candidate in US history are the result.

How about we get back to cementing the Base, yes... us bitter gun clingers, and then try and make the message palatable to the Masses by putting up a candidate with Charisma to help get it across. Someone like Palin.

Or, we can take your suggestion and run another Dole/McCain type ticket and see exactly how far down our polling numbers can go on election day...

I'm a libertarian leaner from Ann Arbor. I voted for Palin a lot more than McCain. I also heard of Palin before he was VP.

If the idiot staffers (Wallace, etc) let her be herself and had her concentrate on what she'd done in Alaska, she'd have been better.

Not a fan of Huckabee either for his tax increases.
