Dear Ladies and Gentlemen of the Buncombe County School Board:
Today I received a shocking video of a teacher in your school system who was bullying a student. Having been born and bred in Asheville, (I live in Charlotte now) I was horrified to see such treatment of a child. This makes the entire city look disgraceful that this woman still has a job. I urge you to watch the video and see for yourself. She brow beats the child for supporting John McCain and tells the child that McCain supports another 100 years in Iraq. The horrible part? THE CHILD’S FATHER IS IN IRAQ FIGHTING FOR COUNTRY. The teacher then asks the child if she wants her daddy to stay in Iraq for 100 years!
This is intimidation, humiliation, and bullying to say the least. This violates the policy for intimidation and bullying that is set forth by your school system. I implore you to look into this and at the very least, discipline this teacher and apologize to the child and her family. If she were my child, I would be hiring an attorney.
No matter what your politics, this treatment of our children can’t be tolerated. It makes me ashamed that the great city I grew up in has this teacher working in the school system. Please look into this matter and make some changes.
