A family of Barack Obama supporters awakened this morning to find a burned 6-foot cross on the front lawn of their home in northern Warren County, police said. The charred cross was partly wrapped with a homemade congratulatory banner that declared "President Obama Victory '08" and had been stolen from the lawn the night before, police said.

Originally, yes. When they were an insurgency in the Reconstruction South. Much as the US and Iraqi government are facing in Iraq today from the “insurgents” who flood in from other nations.
By the 1920s the organization became more open to both political parties.
But the most famous member of the modern era (not Byrd, but David Duke) was a Democrat and then an Independent and THEN a Republican before his party became the thing of headlines. He is an independent again.
The organization and its offshoots have been and will always be a negative stain on the fabic of this nation’s history. There is no redemption for this organization. Just as I do not believe in the political redemption of Bill Ayers, just a shift in tactics. He makes no apologies and says he could see his way to taking them up again and wishes he’d done more.

1. This is stupid behavior. Loathsome.
2. I want this investigated. If it is a hoax done to gain sympathy, the perps need to be thrown into jail. If it is white supremacist scum, they need to be thrown into jail.
3. I don’t discount the possibility of either scenario in (2) above...but my gut tells me it is probably the first.

A 6-foot cross would take some time, effort, energy, etc. to pull off. Hope there are witnesses and whoever did it is exposed.

Massachusetts had some really ugly racism on display in the mid-1970s when white parents were upset about busing school students.

We live very near there in NW NJ. Nobody bothered our McCain sign, and the few Obama signs in our neighborhood were untouched all season. I find it hard to believe this really happened...
We did have water balloons thrown at our car by Ron Paul supporters, though.

And no, no one had the right to trespass on their property and burn anything or steal any political signs. You might "think" that but activist judges have ruled otherwise. There have been veterans who've had their American flags stolen and burned by antiwar protesters and the action has been defended by the court as "free speech".

HOAX !
You guys always say that. Except, of course, when a "black man carved a B into the face of a McCain campaign worker." Then you all screamed bloody murder. We all know how that one turned out. Of the hundreds if not thousands of racially motivated confrontations that have happened in my lifetime, I can count on one hand the number of hoaxes. I'll happily apologize if this is one of them.

I expect to hear such stories, whether true or false every day from now. They need racism as their nourished, eternal enemy. More to the point, they need such to justify the new "Homeland Security Force". Machineguns and tanks are not cheap, and the budget battles would otherwise be a bear.
And don't think I'm kidding.

Until then, take it seriously.Sorry. But when the hoax is confirmed, the story will be buried in the classified section of the paper.

But since it was just black-on-white violence, the media didn't much care.

I do, however, think that there will be several phony inside job attempts by the Obama cabal, which will ultimately result in martial law, gun confiscation, and the like.There. Fixed it for you.

That was sniffed out as a probable hoax by lots of Freepers well before the police announced that it was a hoax.

I think the chances of Obama getting hurt by these scum is huge. Then you're an idiot.
