Is Maine truly blue? Experts say not entirely

After a convincing Pine Tree State win for Sen. Barack Obama, the fifth consecutive Democratic presidential candidate to prevail in Maine, many analysts wondered Wednesday just how blue the state has become.

“I think at least on the president level, Maine does seem to be a safe blue state,” said Amy Fried, a political scientist at the University of Maine.

Oh yeah! Maine is true blue alright except for parts of Piscatiquais, Aroostok and Washington Counties. Piscatiquais was the only county to vote McCain. Its blue its also Soviet red.

Not exactly. Maine voters turned down tax increases Tuesday night. The Maine GOP fought to get them on the ballot. So even in a Blue State, there are encouraging signs that Americans want limited government.

There’s no one left to pay them anyway. Its a good sign that people are waking up but unfortunately the damage is done. It will probably take decades to fix all this up.

How many candidates...for any office (President down to Dog Catcher) that ME has voted for are Republicans? And you can't name Snowe of Collins....for obvious reason.

Is it nearly.....one?

You've hit rock bottom there in New England. The only way left is up. Keep up the good fight, stand up for your beliefs and never surrender! CHEERS!

***MASSACHUSETTS*** voters consistently vote down tax increases.Of course the legislature *ignores* the votes...kinda like judges in California. So are you saying there's "hope" for Massachusetts?

No,I didn't think so.

I was in Portland for a wedding a couple of years ago. A street urchin (probably had a trust fund so he was living on the street for some cred) spit on a bike cop. The bike cop just pushed his bike past the kid and said nothing. I stood up and started yelling at the cop to “do some stick work on that little punks head!” “How dare you not do anything when that little stinking hippie spit on you?” He then threatened to arrest me for being disorderly.
That is when I realized how badly Portland had gone to the left!

Oh,how wrong you are.My home state is still only the 3rd most heavily taxed in the country. And Catholic hospitals haven't yet been required to do free abortions on every 14 year old who comes in...and do it without parental consent.

Yeah the police in Portland and Bangor are cowards. The Left loves to carry on about how we have an enlightened police force. Just wait till more gangbangers from Boston and New York show up to cash in on the welfare system or what’s left of it.

I was really shocked when the guy did nothing. At least put the cuffs on the kid.
But I had short hair and didn’t stink so he thought he was safe to threaten me.
I was torqued and have not been back to Portland since, even for a Seadogs game. Whats the AHL team in Portland?

My local state senator from Falmouth, Jerry Davis, prevailed.

Excellent. And if only 50 more Republicans had won they would control your 100 seat state Senate.
