Talk about your October Surprise, it destroyed McCains momentum and brought his campaign to a grinding halt. Could advancing the bail-out when he did have been President Bushs one last swipe at McCain and at the same time damaging Governor Palin enough to make sure that the reins of power in the Republican Party remained in the hands of people who shared his more liberal views?
