Was it a head injury in a skiing accident or did the cigarette that singed his optic nerve enter the temporal lobe of his brain and scald that as well?
I believe that he was smoking while skiing. He slammed into a tree, forcing a cigarette into his brain, effectively smoking his gray matter like a ham.
