I think this is one of the better critiques of the disaster that I’ve read so far. McCain is a a hero, but that’s just not enough - not in the age of media and celebrity.
Palin was so energizing and a great story. But, she was equally disappointing in her interview performances, not only on the substance of the issues, but also in her ability to manage the conversation. Say what you will about Obama but he’s a master of managing the interview.
I hope she does some honest self analysis. And, if she decides to run again, she has two years to hone her craft and polish her skills. I’ve seen some of her other performances and they were ok - not great but ok. I think she can improve. But, she really needs to look inside herself and find her political ethos, grab onto it and never let go.
She could be a champ, but she’s got a lot of work to do before she gets in the ring with Obama.
I respectfully disagree. When he is presented with a rare and truly challenging question, he had a habit of sputtering and making hesitant replies. Also, when you have a fawning and slobbering crooked media unwilling to ask-tough questions, of course he will appear to be smooth and cool. He wasn't called the Teleprompter Kid for nothing.
It helps when Obama's fellow-traveler interviewer is lobbing (likely pre-arranged) puffballs to him as opposed to constructing trick-question ambushes for Sarah.
Nevertheless, GOP candidates have to understand that that is MSM SOP, and prepare accordingly.
