ELLEN DeGeneres says she is "saddened beyond belief" a ban on gay marriage has been approved by Californian voters. DeGeneres married Australian actress Portia de Rossi in August, three months after the Californian Supreme Court legalised same-sex marriage.

Yesterday's vote for Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment to outlaw gay marriage, leaves the stars and thousands of other gay couples in legal limbo.

"Barack Obama is our new president. Change is here. I like millions of of Americans, felt like we had taken a giant step toward equality," the talk-show host said on her website.

"This morning, when it was clear that Proposition 8 had passed in California, I can’t explain the feeling I had. I was saddened beyond belief.

"Here we just had a giant step toward equality and then on the very next day, we took a giant step away."

The court will just overrule the will of the voters.

Again.

Sombody needs to tell Ellen not to worry, activist Judges will declare prop 8 unconstitutional. I bet any money on it. It’s not like it’s “not” predictable, they did it before.

Look on the bright side Ellen, you will not have to hire a divorce lawyer when Portia leaves you for a younger, attractive partner.

Even the majority in L.A. county voted for the ban (albeit by a slim margin). Most of the "no" counties were in the S.F. area.

That’s right Ellen. Most people in California don’t approve of your lifestyle.

Accept reality for once and stop shoving your morality down everybody’s throat.

The only judges that can declare it unconstitutional are federal ones, most notably those 9 we call the Supreme Court. The ban is definitely CONSTITUTIONAL in California, but is it UNCONSITUTIONAL under the U.S. Constitution? Methinks it might be according to our 9 justices. And if the SCOTUS ever says its unconstitutional then we will have gay marriage in all 50 states the very next day.

We really need the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to ensure anything.

Ellen ought to berate the blacks and hispanics who voted for Obama, then turn around voted to ban gay marriage. If she can make the connection, then perhaps she will advocate mass deportations of illegal?

I had an American Express card from 1972 that I cancelled two years ago because of AmEx's insistence on promoting Ellen Degenerate.

Phhhf, Ellen. You lost Anne Hescht and Zuben.

Loser.

The county-by-county map on 8 was interesting. A lot of normally blue counties turned red for 8. Those same counties also have higher Hispanic populations. If we can wean them from their reflexive, third-world socialism, there might be some opportunities there for conservatism.

No Ellen, you stupid liberal b1tch, a bunch of commie lovers took our country way the hell off the right path, and Prop 8 was, in comparison, a small step back towards sanity.

Now go endorse the latest carpet cleaning gadget.
