I hope Sarah Palin goes home to Alaska for a while. The GOP needs to decide if they’re going to follow Frum, Brooks, and Parker, or if we’re going to follow Newt, Cantor, Jindal— true conservatives.

If it’s the latter, than Sarah Palin can be play a huge role in 2010 getting conservative Republicans elected, setting her up for 2012, if she wants it.

But if it’s the former— I’d rather she not waste her time with these idiots.

Game On [Jim Manzi]

OK, you lose some battles, but you fight on. It's time to develop a conservative game plan for the next several years. I think, at the outset, that a wide variety of voices are essential.

Slate is hosting a two-day discussion of the conservative future among a polyglot group of right-of-center types: Tucker Carlson, Ross Douthat, Douglas W. Kmiec, Kathleen Parker, Christine Todd Whitman, and me.

exist, I would suggest you email this fellow at National Review, like I did.

Ask him why this discussion does not include us? Why is “Slate” hosting such a discussion, and why are they lying.... saying it is a discussion with conservatives about our future?

As a matter of fact, this posting should be a thread here, and we all should email him.

You know, every dark cloud has a silver lining. If McCain had won, he would have governed as a “moderate” and brought everyone around down with him, including his VP, Sarah Palin. She would have been ridiculed by the media for a solid 4 years and by the time 2012 rolled around, she would no longer be a viable candidate for the presidency. As McCain’s VP, she would have been put under restraints on what she could and couldn’t say to the media, and it could have ruined her. This way, she can now make her own way, use her own strategy, and be a stronger candidate for 2012. I think she’s going to be even more dynamite than she was these past two months.
