A candidate must get 50% plus one vote to win the election in GA. If no one gets 50+1, there's a run-off election.

The Dems put the +50% rules in place when they ruled the state. They did it because they ran uncontested in primaries and wanted the R’s to face run-offs in primaries. As such, the R’s would always face 2 campaigns and would be tapped out (cash/energy) during the general election.
