Great writeup but some issues.
The Fairness Doctrine makes MSM folks uneasy. That kind of thing can backfire on you.
Congress has to run in two years with no Presidential candidate to bring out the “walking around money”. They can’t go overboard with this stuff. They remember what happened in 1994 when the country blew them out of the water for raising taxes, threatening guns and monkeying with health care.
If we go into a recession, raising taxes will not be easy. It looks like you are kicking people while they are down. Making their paychecks smaller is not going to be popular even if you do call it an “investment”.
Health care has become the third rail of politics and Dems aren’t eat up with courage. Worse still for them, they can’t use the Republicans to scare people any more. They are out on that limb alone.
There's no room here for sanity. FR should be hysterical today! :-)
I liked your post. Need a voice of reason amongst all of the hyperbolic rhetoric. Me, I'm not happy about the results of the election, but I'm taking away a few things. Dems did not get a supermajority in the Senate (that really worried me....). Prop 8 did not pass in California. And contrary to all of the apocalyptic wishes of many Freepers, no urban areas were burned flat in celebration (or riots protesting defeat).
America survived far worse political tests. We're roughly in the same situation as we were in, in '92, and almost exactly the same situation as we were in during the '70s. We're still here, and we'll be here to pick up the pieces in 2010, and 2012. It'll just be expensive.
Very insightful.
There are high expectations by the young 0bamamanics for health care, as many of them work in jobs with no coverage.
I've told some of them of McCain's plan, but they couldn't break free of the Mermerizer.
