The fairness doctrine is doomed to failure due to the free market. The only reason we have so many conservative talk radio hosts is because the audience wants them. That’s what they want to hear. Air America went bankrupt because they didn’t have the audience. Market factors doomed them. So if they try and take off popular conservative shows and replace them with unpopular liberal shows that no one is listening to (and no one is buying the advertised products), that won’t fly in the radio/TV market. That won’t fly with consumers, the audience. I predict that conservative talk radio and TV is going to ROAR over the next 4 years, fairness doctrine or not. There will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth on the left.

What's with this "free" crap? Who cares about that? This is Obamaland now. They're going to turn everything into NPR. Look for the US version of the BBC. You won't hear anything that isn't approving of The Almighty Oboma.

I agree. A revival of the Fairness Doctrine will backfire on democrats. Let’s hope they try and silence conservatives but not too soon. Wait until the heat of the 2010 race can be felt.
