We have to get Republicans acting like Republicans again.

That is the problem, they have been acting like Republicans. The conservative movement within the Republican party was a relatively short term affair lasting less than 20 years. Bush the elder was no conservative, and Bush Jr. ran as a compassionate conservative - as if he was half apologizing for any conservatism to be found in his bones.

We had quite a few pseudo-conservatives who ran as a conservatives but acted like East coast Rockefeller Republicans once in office.

Will the Republican party come back to conservatism after this debacle? Perhaps, but I have my doubts. The struggle for control of the party is going to be very bloody.

How do you know I “just read?” I read American history rather than watch TV. I do this out of fascination and love for my country. Is that a problem?

Call it an educated guess. The world just changed, and your place in it just demanded a decision. I'm done conversing with you. Good evening.

True. I just wish I wasn’t the one being sacrificed. Makes it a lot less fun.

I think our best bet is to find an ex-lib who’s “seen the light” and recruit him to teach us.

I feel like I’m in the scene in “Office Space” where the guys are looking up “money laundering” in the dictionary. :-\

Fun? I doubt that.

It will take a effort that will test many, any many will come short.

I’m not buying it. The Obama -ACORN movement cheated in every state.

STOLEN ELECTION.

LOL, not yet, would it help? The jest of the idea, budding as it is, is that many of us would like to drop out of the system that rules us with such an iron boot, and is only doomed to get worse. We can’t. we are stuck paying all the taxes and fees and permits and licenses and social security, all of which helps us not, but burdens us plenty. We can however, stop the madness for our future generations. We as Americans are no longer realistically willing or able to fight back physically, but in the spirit of civil descent, ala the Boston tea party, could just side step this whole new world order push, and stop participating. Voluntarily of coarse, no one will force you. And if any child raised in this phantom society decides they want no part of it, they can register and join the other sheeple.

I don't know what can be done. I mean even with the cheating -the people elected Obama. They obvioulsly don't give a damn about anything our nation stands for. They want the hand outs.

Before we talk about resistance, I think the GOP should do a thorough analysis of how the loss happened.

Part of it can be traced back to 2000 when it was first made known that massive cheating by dems was taking place- nothing was done for almost 8 years about it.

McCain let the dems paint repubs as responsible for the stock market crashes.

McCain didn't spend enough money to counter Obama's media offensive. And the biggest contributing factor to the loss- ONCE AGAIN- THE TOTOAL UTTER FAILURE OF MCCAIN/REPUBS TO UNDERSTAND THE EFFECTS OF THE MEDIA ON THE ELECTORATE, AND THAT NOTHING WAS DONE TO COUNTERACT IT.

Besides the cheating over the last 8 yrs. that was never addressed- the dems were allowed to vote in republican primaries- thus choosing our candidate for us. Repubs had almost 8 yrs to do something about this. They did nothing. I know there are more factors, but, this is all I can come up with now.

FReepers are talking about winning in 2010? How? How much more cheating will there be then?

I can't think about resistance. I'm thinking about consequences, and how much this election is going to end up costing us.

One of the worst consequences will be Iraq and the WOT. Just tragic. It's like it was all for nothing.

Partial Birth abortion- butchering babies in the womb will be started up again.

The Supreme Court appointments and with those, the formal end of the Bill of Rights.

This is a disaster beyond all comprehension- But life goes on.

All those who believed the media when they touted how bad things are, will soon find out just how bad things can get.

The only small bit of satisfaction is going to be watching the ignorant be shocked out of their stupor, when they realize that their gas tanks aren't magically going to be full in the morning , and that the mortgage still has to be paid.

At the moment, I really don't care what happens in the country anymore. I don't care about politics. Whatever.

You go back and read Henry, Paine, Jefferson, Franklin, et al...

The tipping point has been reached and passed. It's all down will from here.

Actually, I'd suggest we all start reading Thoreau. And then figure out how to start applying his principles (particularly the ones on tax resistance and civil disobedience) to our modern-day lives.

As another FReeper said last night, we all cast votes, THOUSANDS of votes each, every year just by buying things. If there's now a beast out there with its claws at the throat of the American Republic, it's easy enough to starve it into submission, so long as we work together. $4+ per gallon gasoline has really taught my family how to limit trips and conserve. Every gallon we save takes money out of state and Federal coffers, for instance. Few pennies a gallon, but it all adds up. Let them find their funding elsewhere ...

I encourage whoever the hell is in charge of strategy and tactics for the GOP to take your advice. However, that isn't me, and frankly, it isn't the majority of posters here or conservatives in general. We have a resistance to begin, not a party to reorganize.

"12/20/2012 = The End"

...of the Mayan calendar.

It's an astronomical calendar. They projected it to 2012. Saying the world ends on 12/20/2012 is like saying it ends 12/31/08 if you don't have a 2009 calendar.

Unfortunately for the the Mayans their world ended 500 years ago. Their calendar just outlived their civilization.
