Los Angeles: Barack Obama has promised to increase taxes if he becomes president of the United States. But the really rich want change and many of them have said they are voting for the senator from Illinois. Despite the tradition that says the country's wealthy tend to favour the Republican Party, there has been an unexpected swing ahead of Tuesday's election that favours the black Democratic candidate.
For starters, the country's two richest men, Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, have already said they will vote for Obama. According to Forbes magazine, Gates - worth an estimated $55.5 billion - contributed $2,300 to the Democrat's campaign in the primaries.

This isn’t a surprise. I’ve seen people around here lauding Buffett lately. No idea why. He’s a “capitalism for me, socialism for you” kind of guy, just like Gates, Soros, etc. Seems like most of the super rich are that way. Cuban is always producing anti-American films, for example.
You're about the last person in the country to realize that.
Good to see he's endorsing the guys that will pass card check and unionize Microsoft. Wonder how he'll like that....
Isn’t Gates from Seattle? That explains a lot.
Gates, Buffet = limousinhe (latte) liberals.
Buffet has always been a big Dem. The Dems are the party of the rich.
doesnt surprise me either. I always thought him as a liberal myself. Theres alot of superrich that are liberal. These taxes never effect them at all, but those who are trying to become rich
“I told you Gates was a big lib”
No more than socialist than Buffett.
No no, I’ve known for a very long time.
I don’t forget past arguments I’ve made. And once upon a time someone here on FR tried arguing with me about Gates’ liberalism.
That’s the thing about time. Just wait, these liberals will do what they do.
I don’t know how anyone could have ever missed the fact that Gates is a liberal.
Not surpised he tosses money to the Democrats.
If you had that kind of vested interest, and government were the only ones powerful enough to exert any kind of competitive pressure on you, either as an erector of barriers, as a customer, or as a gatekeeper, then which guy would you elect?
I’d elect a guy I could buy and knew that once bought, would stay that way.
Gates earned his money through good contract law, not through software development. He’s, at heart, a lawyer, like his daddy.
Buffet? Terminal affluenza.
Of course Buffet and Gates are going to vote for Barack Hussein Obama. They can afford him.
Buffet is a little weird. I think the boy lacks common sense. Didn’t he tell the story that he thought the tax structure was BS because his secretary paid more in relation to her income than he did to his?
Of course, the easiest solution before you set yourself up for public ridicule like that is to raise your secretary’s pay. It’s not like he can’t afford it. But, no. This idiot just whined about it and the Liberal Democrats ate it up.
Windows 7, meet BitTorrent.
Just spreading the OS wealth around, Mr. Gates.
I don't want to know what has been funneled through their “foundations”. Give it up like you would my tax dollars.
I lived in Bothell from 97-2000. I remember that Bill, Hillary, and Algore would visit him about 3-4 a year. They alway made the trek across the 520 bridge right at 5:00 in the middle of rush hour...
I sold my Microsoft stock because he was partying with the folks that were trying to break up his “monoply”... plus Gates gave $200k to the anti gun movement...
The reason the super rich are for the merciful Obama is Obama is going to increase taxes on income, not wealth. The super rich will not have to pay more in taxes.
Excellent!
