It basically came down to freedom. I’d grown up believing that liberalism and the Democratic party were the great protectors of freedom. But then you look at the political correctness movement and its efforts to stifle free speech, and the univeral healthcare movement and its efforts to destroy free choice and realize that liberalism is much closer to totalitarianism. For me, it’s all about the nanny state.
