Newt Gingrich: Annoy the Media: Go Vote And the 'Common Sense Effect'
Human Events ^ | 11/04/2008 | Newt Gingrich

Special note: On this day of great consequence for our republic, our thoughts and prayers go out to Senator Obama, whose grandmother passed away yesterday in Hawaii. Presidential politics is a serious undertaking, and our differences are real, but the pain we feel from the loss of loved one is a burden we all share. May Senator Obama and his family find peace and condolence in this difficult time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today marks the end of one of the most dishonest, relentlessly one-sided campaigns of bias and distortion by the mainstream media in American history.

The latest tactic in this elite media campaign has been to declare the presidential race over in an effort to discourage some voters from going to the polls. After all, if Barack Obama has already won, why should supporters of John McCain even bother to vote?

But this election won’t be decided by Keith Olbermann, or CNN, or the New York Times.

It will be decided by you.

So annoy the mainstream media. Remember 2000. Remember how close it was. Remember how every single vote counted.

Go out and vote. Now.

The Bradley Effect vs. The Common Sense Effect

The same biased media that has declared the presidential race over has also (just to be sure) come up with a rationalization in the event that their candidate loses.

They call it the Bradley Effect, after the former Mayor of Los Angeles Tom Bradley’s unsuccessful bid to be governor of California in 1982.

A late election poll had Bradley, an African-American, ahead, but he went on to lose the election. His supporters and others in the media blamed his loss on the so-called Bradley Effect: the supposed tendency of voters to tell pollsters they are voting for a minority when, in fact, they refuse to once they...

For Prop 15 the NRA had registered more than 300,000 new voters through California gun stores. Few of them were Bradley fans. Bradley lost by little more than 93,000 votes to his opponent, George Deukmejian. Bradley learned his lesson. On a subsequent failed campaign for governor in 1986 he abandoned his anti-handgun stance.

What Bradley Effect?

Tom Bradley Didn't Lose Because of Race

He was a gun grabbing liberal. He got his just desserts.

One of? Can anyone name another that was even close to as biased and distorted as this one? Kerry in 2004 was "fair and balanced" by comparison, and even that was a joke by any reasonable standard of "journalism".

There are ways to fight back this partisan media.
Organize with friends, acquaintances, that also reject partisan media reporting.
1) As a group, cancel a certain paper for a week, 10 days etc. then go back to your habit if you like. Let the paper know why.
2) Notify any company, corporation, that advertises a product or services in your paper that you will not buy their product advertised in the...., do this by email or phone.
Organize this similar to a chain letter, and you can be assured that your liberal paper, or a certain writer, will hear and feel about it rather quickly.
Letters to the editor are for the birds.
It's the wallet that raises their attention.

This is yet another example of how the left has corrupted our national understandings and assumptions and I thank you for reminding people. It wasn't a "he's black, so I"m not voting for him" thing as the left would like us to believe and feel guilty for. It was his anti-gun stance in opposition to Deukmejian's.

Obviously, there are plenty of people who vote on the basis of skin color and/or gender as many in the Obama Nation have said. But as a nation, we have shown them and all others that race doesn't matter to most of us as his popularity makes clear. What does matter is the content of his character and the philosophies that guide his life and how he would govern.

FANTASTIC IDEA !

My wife forwarded your comment to me after a neighbor and I mapped out similar plans in a 4-hour discussion.

We are organizing a web-enabled initiative to specifically identify and act on “TAKEDOWN TARGETS” that undermine America’s Freedoms, Values and Capitalist Economy.

We can shift half of their customers to Patriot Sources, thereby starving the Target’s funding and strengthening the Patriot Sources.

Early Priorities:
1. Newspapers: Cancel the Subscription
2. Cable Channels: Block the Partisan Channels
3. Theater Chains: Boycott those carrying Partisan flicks
4. Music Retailers: Boycott those carrying Garbage Rapsters

Short Story:
Shift half of their Customer Base to Patriot Competitors.
Leave them to scrap with Partisan Competitors for leftovers.

If you ever want a reference to the so called "Bradley effect," it's the keyword prop15 for California's Prop 15, a ban on new handguns in 1982.

Most of you know McCain wasn't my preference. Life is not fair. Go hold your nose and vote!. You still have to vote for one or two Congress critters.

“One of? Can anyone name another that was even close to as biased and distorted as this one?”

Yes. The first presidential election I voted in was Reagan vs. Carter. The media and entertainment industry made a Carter victory seem all but certain. The vitriol against Reagan in the press bordered on hysteria.

I particularly recall in the weeks before the polls opened, Saturday Night Live repeatedly parodied Reagan as senile boob or a conniving warmonger, while Carter was portrayed as a hip, well-meaning uncle.

When I woke up the next morning and saw that Reagan had been elected decisively, it was the last thing that I expected.

It became clear to me that there was indeed a Silent Majority out there who were not about to swallow what they were being told. It gave me a great deal of faith in the ultimate wisdom of the American people who were at least then not as easily manipulated as the elites would hope.

The main difference between now and then was the incumbent party was a Democrat who brought visible ruin to our economy at home and humiliation to us abroad.

And as I write this (9:37 pm EST, 11/4/2008), history would seem to be in the process of repeating itself, and I wait expectantly for 2012, when the electorate will hopefully feel the same way about Obama.
