I’m in southern New Hampshire. Nothing about it yet on the local news Web sites.

Not only does NH allow same day registration, it also does NOT allow voters to show ID when getting a ballot!

I ALWAYS show my ID, and when I voted this morning, the person checking my name said “I can’t look at ID. It’s against state law.” I had to say my name and address out loud so that the 2 poll watchers behind her could hear.

Even Massachusetts requires an ID to get a ballot!

(Turnout was very heavy. By 10:30 this morning, more people had voted in my town than they did during the entire day during the primary.)

I just returned from a 4-hour shift as a poll checker for the GOP in Nashua, NH.

Republicans were NOT being kept away or mistreated in our ward. Everything seemed to be completely ok, except for occasional cell phone abuse. The election workers nipped that in the bud as soon as they noticed it.

Many people do show ID, and the election workers were checking it when it was offered. I don’t think it’s illegal to look at it.

I saw only one voter who was asked for ID, which was a woman with a name that is almost always a man’s name. I think the election clerks can ask for some kind of verification if they doubt the voter’s identity.
