I can see that. I can also seem my generation not steping up (including myself... I’m trying... It’ll be easier when I can drive). I’m in college right now and we are a generation caught within itself. We have our Ipod’s and the internet, and parents that are supporting us (Most willing, I know my parents won’t even let me consider student loans, I’m getting them next semester). The one’s who are supporting themselves are few, but they’ll go farther in life in my opinion. That’s because they have had to face reality already.
We all have some culpability, however, just like I have some hope that the older generation is learning (PUMA’s show me this) I also hear about soldiers coming back from Iraq who can’t stand what they have heard from RINO’s and Dems, wanting to get into politics to change it for good. I still have hope when I hear things like that.
Toki, dump your ipod. I see people everywhere with earphones plugged in to their heads. They are filled with other peoples music and thoughts. Get comfortable and familiar with that person who resides between your own ears. You can't do that while plugged in to someone else's noise.
The younger generations are the ones fighting the wars in Iraq and Agfhanistan, and doing a damn good job.
If young people in this country are so worthless, then how are we able to put together such an effective military?
That was a great reply, thank you! We have much burden to bear from the past’s failed leadership. But the good news is we may also be called a “Great Generation” once we have been refined by fire (hopefully NOT literally).
Many your age are indeed stepping up. My daughter is married to a soldier and trust me he and his buddies are stepping up big time as are all of our young people in the military. They have a hard task- but are willing to make the sacrifice. My son-in-law is deploying soon and is making plans to start college when he returns, and it will not be easy for him to fit college into his military career. I see them getting their careers going, planning for their financial future, and at the same time they have to deal with realities of his service- things like making a will when you are only 19 years old.
Just by going to college, if you are doing your best, and not just there for the party- you are also stepping up. You are preparing for your future, and not depending on others to hand you a living. I see nothing wrong with your parents helping you with school, you just need to be serious about planning for your independence as soon as you are able. That is stepping up.
